i am very new to web-design and only know to build basic web-sites. Can someone please advise me how to better name my web-pages from ther perspective of good SEO. For example. The main topic of one of my page is : Listening Comprehension. What will be the best way to name this web-page: listening, listeningcomprehension, listening-comprehension. My questions maybe be stupid, but I know nothing about SEO so any good advice will be very much appreciated.

What is the full URL. If it is www.listeningcomprehension.com then you can abbreviate it more but if it is www.abc.com then maybe better to put a recognised format such as www.abc.com/listening_comprehension.html or www.abc.com/listening-comprehension.html

I doubt it makes much difference from an SEO point of view but I always think hyphens look nicer than underscores.

I take it you mean your file name, like about.html? The best advice I can give is make names as short as possible while explain what the page is about...ie

 

about.html for you about page

listening.html for your listening page

Google recommends using keywords as parts of the web pages URLs and so instead of using some digits or letters, try actually creating Blog like pages addresses.

Is there SEO benefit to exploiting .htaccess to create more user friendly links?

 

eg. Instead of http://www.abc.com/about.html

using http://www.abc.com/about/

 

?
