Hi, fresh idea! I love it but look like some details you can make it more fun like a left bar menu and content layout.

i do like this design very much but two things strike me; the purple doesn't say to me fresh air ( and not sure the top image goes with it therefore - although both are good seperately).

 

Secondly, I notice the layout is very similar to your feature jewelry site... in my very humble opinion i would change that because it suggests you can only create that kind of layout.

I agree with that - it's definitely a work in progress. Maybe I should take that website off the front. It's the only one thats as similar!

I love the bubbles, I watched them for ages...something strangely hypnotic about them.

 

The layout is great, however one thing I don't think works is the image at the top of the tree. It doesn't really fit in with the rest of the style and sort of detracts for the great styling of the rest of the site. I don't think its the image itself, just the way that it is feathered around the edges...so I would suggest experimenting with how it is being displayed

Nice, really creative ideas there. the tree would be ok if it lined up with the right side border, or that could just be my screen. also never drive traffic away from your website by offering links to other website even if you created them (like in your portfolio) have each of the links open in a new window. that way the user will stay on your site for longer.

Honestly, I don't like it...

 

I dont like the top image that's for sure! And the bubbles I find annoying.

Also I don't like the letter-spacing you used... I think they're too far away and it's making it hard to read, for me at least.

 

And I'm not too keen on the logo either... :/

 

White space is a good thing, however I think you're using too much of it and therefore it's making your site look empty...

The contact page for example... The fields are so far away from the label... Maybe its just on FF 3 on Mac?

 

Anyway, you have good skills, I like your newest site (Jane Shaw) a lot better, and you can probably make that Jane Shaw's website 10x better if you want.

I really like it, especially the moving bubbles. its different, i keep seeing too many of the same sites around all the time.

Hi, Sorry not a massive fan of the site, I agree with the other member that said the header image and the colour scheme don't really go, the bubbles although a nice feature, randomly disappear mid way through the header image and destroys the effect. The Gaussian blur on the header is a bit poor you can see the original images border through it, and the Swirls/targets are a tad jagged.

 

The font you have used for your sub headers "links" etc I really don't like it reminds me of comic sans!!! and as Pedro said the letter spacing makes your text elongated.

 

Code wise your site does not validate (9 Errors and 2 warnings) most of them to do with your flash content Google the Satay method for a fix. and why all the &nbsp? spacing is controlled much better in pure CSS.

The only thing is that i don't think you should use the landscape image. I don't really think the blue and purple color goes together that well.. Just my opinion!

Thanks - landscape image is going!! To be honest it was a quick fix for the blank space I had there before. Most of the issues are down to lack of time on my part. It needs a good tidy up I agree!

 

I'm going to work on it if I get chance in the next couple of days - thanks for the feedback again. Useful pointers.

tbh, the fact that half the content isn't visible on a 1024 monitor maximised puts me off even looking. Sorry.

I don't like the purple it is too dark and over contrasts with the white.

 

The thick black border is almost clumsy and isn't smooth/crisp. You need to down scale the whole site make the black border 1 or 2 pixels thick and the logo smaller I don't think you have enough content to have such a large site.

 

It is a common thing designers do when starting out making all the graphics huge not sure why but I did it to. I would use a lighter purple and make the bubbles static maybe have more than just a gradient background or add the bubbles to the white background and drop their opacity.

 

The curved graphics are a little jagged I would re-export them to make them more smooth.

 

I'm not keen on the spaced out lettering it is hard to read and seems like a failed attempt at making the site look bigger.

 

On the up side the coding is nice well done!

I dont want to echo whats been said already but i do think the logo needs alot of work, theres alot more to a logo than brushing and an embossed font; it doesnt work for me at all and looks like Photoshop Amateur work - no offence by that but id suggest working alot more on that first, a good logo sets a good standard for everything else

What would you suggest I do to it? I didn't like the emboss but then it looked too flat. I designed that a year ago, theres a lot that I would change but I think this far into it - its hard to change your logo?!

I had to set my site up in a hurry - will I perfect it - yes. but using the odd   and dreamweaver insert media doesn't seem like the biggest crime to me. Although I'm sure someone will tell me otherwise!

You need to make sure your site is accessible, getting your site to validate helps in this process, (also helps SEO which you will benefit from) so disabled users are also able to view your site and content.

 

Coding semantically is to be encouraged for a reason, web design is much much more than making it look pretty, what you do behind the scenes is equally important to making a design statement, educate yourself for your users.

I like it, but when I'm trying to read the content the bubbles distract me Could you try slowing them down/fade in/out?

I agree but even a very slight gradient, a slight shadow or that kind of thing can help it from looking flat

In general I liek the site, I do like the bubble effect and I don't have any problems with the colour scheme, the two things I would recommend addressing are;

 

Logo: I agree with everyone that mentioned it that it is not quite perfect, maybe try again from scratch but tone it down?

Borders: are too thick, makes it look template driven and a bit cheap, thin them down a bit

it's a quite good. There are some of my opinions.

 

1. My screen resolution is quite big(1680x1050), but when i load the page, the bottom of the main navigation on the left is still cut off. I think the header image occupy so much space.

2. The bubbles are nice, but i can still see the bubble disappear and appear from certain point. Maybe use fading a effect around the edge.
