js / jquery slide bar
probably make your life easyer to use the jquery functions hide and show if you actually want to make it visible/hidden, these can be customised too, in your customisations i'd recomment you animate based on padding or margin instead of top. also when doing these sorts you tend to replace the control on animation... try summin like this if you wish to carry on with same method...; $('.boxgrid.captionMain').click( function() { if(this.hasClass("open")){ //close $(".cover", this).stop().animate({top:'280px'},{queue:false,du ration:750}); }else { //open $(".cover", this).stop().animate({top:'530px'},{queue:false,du ration:750}); } thsi.toggleClass("open"); )}; });

deffinatley not, only where required for your desired effects, the least you can limit sizes the better

Highlight currently visited page
i replace the link with a span via php, also i add a seperate class in the css which i typicaly call curloc (current location).

correct but, better off asigning a width in css so as to accomodate user selected font sizes (so the box can grow). this gives the same desired effect.

backgroud image repeating its self :(
css background images default to repeat, just add background-repeat:no-repeat; to your css class

CSS Menu - Internet Explorer Problem
your menus have a gap between, wich renders a onmouse out in ie; to achieve the font-bold effect on roll over add extra padding prior then remove some padding, this will enable test to remain in the middle; anyways stu nicolas has some great cross compatible menus here; http://www.cssplay.co.uk/menus/

Image with a mind of its own
the trick to diagnose would be to add a background-color to the .recipie div, the recipie box does not seem to be filling the full width on that row, try a clear float between recipies or define a width for the .recipie class as you site is fixed width anyway.
