my first commercial website

Featured Replies

Hi

I have just made the finishing touches to my first commercial site for a local bed and breakfast

Could you let me know what you think and suggest how to improve it?

oh btw please ignore the bad grammar in the content - not mine and customer is happy with it!

I wouldn't change a thing - if they're happy with that content then they'd be happy with anything.

Pat yourself on the back, it looks the job.

Just a couple of points...

1. Page titles could do with a bit of work - just having "Trescowe" doesn't mean much so make them descriptive and the site should benefit from improved search engine listings. For your home page something like "Trescowe holiday retreat and hotel, Par Cornwall" would be better.

2. I think you could make contact details a bit more prominent, at the moment they're buried at the bottom of the page :)

for a first it looks great. i'm not a fan of that drop shadow effect in the content area, but if they go with it it's fine. ^_^

Lovely clean site which validates - well done.

I think I'd make the contact details a little more obvious - as ultimately thats what you want the viewer to do. You could also make the email link live on each page too, as you have on the about page.

It would be worth adding key words in your metatags too, and changing the titles for each page to reflect its content.

But all in all, a good site - and this will be miles better than their competition

Thanks guys for you replies

I hadn't done the titles yet as it's still in production stages - but like the description you gave it bluedreamer - makes it sound very plush! :D

I'll have a little play around with the footer and try to make it stand out more

Thanks Ysuran

I don't have any complaints about this website. I like the neat look and feel, white background, black text works always!

I liked it that you are showing so many pictures. Its got a pleasant, summery look to the whole thing.

I might probably want to alter the content and layout. Here are my comments:

- Maybe the home page doesn't need so much copy

- Maybe you could put the home page copy in About Us

- Maybe the About Us Page could be renamed Contact Us

At the end of the day, client is king, so if he's happy, you can be happy too :-)
