  1. Welcome to the forum, Mind sharing us your website?
  2. Do you have a way or strat how to choose your domain or portfolio/service site name other than just using your plain name/surname. This may sound very vague or silly asking this kind of question but I've seen some people struggle how to pick a name for their website or domain. That's including me! Although I just used my name for my personal site, but I want it to make it different for my freelance/service site.
  3. A little line-height and padding would be good too as everything seems to be close together other than that it looks good.
  4. Hi, I know some people have been using bootstrap or foundation, I'm a big fan of FZ but I'm looking for a lighter version. I could write my own but I thought I'd research for more options.
  5. +1 I would probably use facebook if you don't want much hassle, I've seen so many fb business groups in my area that are successful by just using this to advertise their products/services locally; social media is surely being a big part of ads these days to be honest. Your attachment seems to be a full website then like everyone suggested either learn html, css or just use wordpress I'm sure there are loads of templates you can use.
  6. Where are you going to get the data of the game play/matches of these heroes? But those names are only in-game names, once they change that then your count won't work again?
  7. As I said in my previous reply that you have to have a web hosting *not locally*. You have you buy a web host let say from heart internet, freezone, godaddy and etc. Your MAMP is only for development purposes, if you want your wordpress to be found on the internet and by others then a web hosting is required.
  8. Yeah I normally do that too. But I found a way now thanks. This might be useful to others as well. http://web-capture.net/
  9. Hi, I've been trying to find a way how to take a screenshot of a full page I was wondering if anyone know's how to or what to use to achieve this?
  10. Good one, never heard of this before but will give it a try. I normally use foundation zurb over bootstrap as I find their Docs more clear and simple.
  11. It might or it might not even cost that much as long as you know the actual specification and needs of your brother's website.
  12. Or this, much simpler. Didn't really test it putting it under :hover > ul but cool.
  13. You can try putting :first-child where I put the margin-top:-50px; http://jsfiddle.net/uh38f71d/1/
  14. I don't know if this is a best practice but I guess you could pull the sub menu back up by margin-top:-50px. http://jsfiddle.net/uh38f71d/
  15. +1 A premade theme is great but there could be limitations using pre-made ones. A theme from the scratch would be more ideal especially if your brother want to scale his website up.
  16. If you're only running it on your computer you really won't be able to link it anywhere else apart from your local machine/computer. For your domain and wordpress to link you'll need a web host you can probably get a cheap web hosting, if you visit the hosting thread on the forum.
  17. This is a localhost which is hosted on your local machine, to link it to your domain you have to host this to make it live on the internet then you can link.
  18. So just T&C on my page is enough and acts like a contract of some sort. Well I will probably still need a paper base one in case they plan to have a face-to-face meeting or something but obviously they can sign it on the paper. But thanks for your feedback this helps me to put that aside for now and come back later to right my T&C. I might just asked it here instead of new thread, in terms of refund do other freelancer do refunds at all? I know deposit shouldn't be refundable once you started the project, I mean what if after the project and the web has been hosted then they want to cancel the hosting or asked for refund for their website?
  19. I meant how can they sign the contract electronically? I've signed few electronic contract when like you just click it writes your name but I guess that was coded or something?
  20. Yeah sorry didn't mention that the images are only placeholders. Oh wasn't sure how not to squash/stretch the images but the width and height are only set to 200px but the original image is probably more than 200px. So the services are okay to be grayscaled as they are links? Yeah the site isn't responsive but yet this is just an example, however I will make the sites responsive but thought I just want to build a foundation for the clients to see. I haven't really set a font-family yet so that's why its currently set to default, wasn't sure which font to use for the whole/body content.
  21. Thanks, I will look for a contract template online, btw how does electronic sign work and how to make the contract to be electronically signed by the client?
  22. So, I've already posted a sample of the design but I think I've change a little bit of it while i was writing the html & css. This sample is just going to go to my portfolio as I'm starting to build it. http://markestrada.co.uk/demos/builder/ Edit: I thought of grayscaling the services and recolour it when hover. Also the 4 70x70 images are for the trademarks the client want to put on their website.
  23. Thanks for your reply, So a designer/developer can just write a simple contract as long as its reasonable within the law? But the contract doesn't have to be registered or approved by your council or whoever. Yeah I've seen few contracts online but I wasn't sure if their contract are registered or legal or just a piece of paper for the client and designer.
