  1. Thanks for taking the time to feedback. I'll look at the character spacing. Thanks again.
  2. Thank you. You mention an interesting point "uncomfortable to read"...do you mean it hard on the eye.? Perhaps the blog should just have the pic & title and not the para? Thanks for the feedback.
  3. The carousel breaks when you expand the screen width
  4. I think you should create an Init function to pull in at least some data into the right pane on startup. Its looks wrong and broken.
  5. The link is to a video of a skinned myBB. Why don't you really make it your own and style it uniquely?
  6. YES IT IS No more than 150KB tops Run it through pagespeed and look at the waterfall diagram. See how long the image is holding everything up.
  7. I know skeleton quite well. As a rule of thumb. The container sets the width to 960 The subbordinate divs take the area within the 960 ie container two-thirds col one-third col don't nest any more than that. Also close the divs and start and new container. Hope this helps.
  8. I would appreciate some comments. Particulary: The blog items on the home page. DO they ruin the home page look? Is the home page a bit too spartan? Any comments would be appreciated. http://refreshwebsites.co.uk/home/ Thanks
  9. I don't think the breakpoints on the media queiries are quite right. Its not a great idea to let the text ride right next to the window. The quotes on the left sideare hanging off the window. Perhaps pull back from the effects. Is it trying too hard?
  10. Why 900px. A little tight. It seems the whole world is using the 960 grid.
  11. Why don't you create a model popup and pull in the content via an AJAX call?
  12. Hmmm. what are you expecting after decryption? Top Secret plans?
  13. Yes the plus operator selects the next li. Its problably best though to use the :first-child or :nth-child(x) pseudo selector as it easier to debug. Only IE7 and above.
  14. Actually box shaddow has been well support for quite a while. IE 8 is the cutoff. Do a search for css box shaddow generator and its even easier to gen the code.
  15. Perhaps a bit too green. Could you perhaps incorporate a complimentary colour?
  16. I use Adobe Fireworks for web. It makes it really easy to cut and slice and layout sprites. However I have heard it may be phased out.
  17. Have a look at the skelton boiler plate. It will save you a ton of time. http://www.getskeleton.com/ A centered div of say 960px could have three content boxes of say 300px side by side floated. Use a media query to reset the width at lower window widths.
  18. My Name is Darren Street and I am the director of Refresh Websites Ltd, a website design business in the Oxford area. I have been creating Websites for over 10 years. Initially good old HTML and then with ASP, .Net and now all my sites tend to be Umbraco based. In terms of design style I seem to have now gone full circle. I tend to create websites that have a strong visual impact but are blazing fast & seriously powerful on automation and workflow. I tend not to add lots of bells & whistles to my sites, as I really think website visitors are bored of them. Many website visitors want to get to the information, product or service, NOT indulge the developers passion of whizz bang.
