a bit of a hobby project...

Featured Replies

Hi Guys/Girls,

I have just joined the forum but I want to put out the feelers for a bit of a project i want to do. I'm more of a designer and an ideas man, and want to team up with maybe a couple of developers to do a couple of projects I've had the idea for.

There is money to be made (not mega) but enough to fund a small project and maybe a few coffees/beers for anyone involved.

I'm more excited at the prospect of having fun with these project i have in my scrap book, so if your more for the money than you are for the fun, probably not for you.

Hi Dan, just a bit of html work. pretty easy stuff. Need to take some existing code and package them into plugins for a niche I've spotted. The opportunity seems like low hanging fruit to me, just need some help with the code. It says your expertise is in web design though?

I like the idea of starting a bit of an incubator like in silicon valley, nobody interested in starting a bit of gang to do some little projects? I find the whole process of hiring and being hire a bit laborious and though it would be fun to be a part of a small team that's first though isn't the mighty dollar/pound/pick one.

I can design a logo for anything and am a pretty good video editor. I invented an seo technique as well that everyone seems to be onto now so i would say i know seo as well.

come on someone's got to bite. I'm now also ringing geek mates to see if anyone know anyone coder-wise.

I have recently been to a local LUG meeting to see if anyone was interested... won't be doing that again! lol

I am not sure you realise how many posts get thrown around of 'great ideas' for us to work for promises, most are more than aware of that fact so tend to ignore posts like this one. sorry.

Sounds great. I'll just check with my suppliers that they are ok with me paying them in coffees and beers before I commit. I'll get right back to you.

I have to say this is not a very warm welcome. Also I've had a look at some of your website (those who have replied). I am on hand if any of you need any expert design help.

What is the issue with my question? I don't understand why no one is even slightly interested in doing something creative. Is the sole purpose of this site for money making? I thought it was a discussion forum for coders and web designers?

You can assume the following:

- I'm not spam, or I won't have even give it this long

- that dan likes to steal other peoples ideas. If he can't then he just joins in with the fools and poo poo the potential idea.

- there are fools on this website

- there doesn't seem to be anything going on on this website except granny chat.

If Anyone is actually serious about their trade and haven't just put up a brown website and say they are a web designer/coder then pm me.

Sorry for the harsh response but I'm not one for suffering fools, and I've only been on here for 2 days and its swimming in them (please see above).

Sorry to get you all upset Thomas, I was just giving you a bit of banter back as you've insulted various members here, including myself. I thought you would take it light hearted - I apologise. I'm not trying to upset anybody.

So that we can move forward with this thread, instead of resorting to name calling. Have you thought about looking on a place like people per hour? Or fiver?

I've not got any experience using them myself but I have had a little look in the past and people go really cheap on there :)

I am a designer too but I know how to code although I would not call myself a developer so I am a creative but I would not expect to have to work for free and I would not expect others to work for free for me. Being creative is not a reason to do work for free especially when you suddenly realise how many of these types of posts the forums get.

We give up some time by giving professional opinion and advice in order to help other who come to this forum, we do that for free.. Creating work, for a project with any form of involvement is not something the forum or its members offer.

There have been many 'wonderful' ideas posted, every one of them said 'mine is going to work, it's unique, I have found a gap in the market' etc etc.

It's most certainly not your fault but unfortunately this is the reaction you will get due to that, 'expecting' someone's time and hard earnt skills can sound a bit cheeky, I tried to 'put you off' the idea of asking but I'm sorry to say you did not get the hint, I'm sorry this is the reaction you have had from others, I'm sure it's nothing personal, just one of those things.

OK...

@@famousmrthomas - welcome to WDF :)

There's no harm in doing projects for fun, I have done that myself with a few fellow WDF members.

However, getting offensive towards developers who don't want to take part in said projects is a no no.

I am sure if you hang around, contribute to the forum and get to know us better, there will be someone willing to help you.

Until then, let's be civilised and not offend each other.
