My photography portfolio
Hi Seedism, I'm sorry if you've invested much time into this, however I don't think you are doing yourself or your images any justice with that site layout. You need to make it a lot more image-centric, something like http://www.alexturco.com/base_menu_en.html or http://www.robertnortham.com/ There are dozens of free jQuery plugins (such as http://wowslider.com/demo.html ) to give you an easy to build site in a few lines of code. Hope this helps, Paul PS Before you ask - I am in no way affiliated with any of those sites!

Site Redesigned - Please Review
Hi cibgraphics, Thanks for the feedback. Good call on the beta ribbon - it was a bit poor. I've upgraded that. Could you be more specific as to what looked dated? Landing page/about us section? On the landing page I have a clear tagline on the logo, examples of the site on the device images and further description on the scrolling message. Any pointers on how to deliver the message better? Cheers

A little feedback would be appreciated
Hi Sam, Have you thought about rotating the logo 90deg and have down the left hand side? It might balance the page out a bit better. Cheers Paul

Please take a moment to review my website
A nice looking website. I think personally it looks cool but I'm not sure everyone would like the black/dark theme. Not sure why your logo replaces the images on the portfolio page. I like the logos. Best of luck with the site. Paul

Overall Feedback
At the moment it is basically an online business card/contact site. The design is a bit plain, kind of off-the-shelf template like. It could do with being a bit more accessible like : http://www.statravel.co.uk/teach-around-the-world.htm

Please review my website
What an adorable website. It's clean and easy to navigate. What did spring to mind was the loading of some of the images. Closer inspection showed that you are displaying scaled down images. Even thought the main logo is showing 115px x 115px, you are still downloading 400px x 400px images - it's best to use native sized images, preferably ones ran through an image compressor (there are loads online and free). This would cut down dramatically on bandwidth. Hope the helps. Paul

Hi, Looking for some website feedback
Hi Luke, Further to StephenOC, short of signing in, I have no idea of how the site works, or how the internal pages look. If people are going to hand over their email/twitter credentials, they'll at least want a flavour of what they'll be potentially getting and weigh up the risk of whether it's worth getting a truck load of emails for (not saying you will - but it's what people think). Also the landing page could do with a more 'game'y feel to it - a few images to liven it up a bit. I wish you all the best. Paul

Brutally honest reviews please
Hey chris paris-haines, rallport and A, cheers for the feedback - really helpful. I've completely redesigned the landing page and about pages. So please check them out I hope they are more appealing. rallport - 'do we need another social media network?' I am a firm believer that competition is essential in every market to keep that market fair. To quote: “The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.” ― Willie Nelson Besides, Buttonific is uniquely tackling a common and serious problem that I have yet to see addressed anywhere else - an environment where both children and adults can interact side-by-side, where the children are protected from damaging influences.

Thanks throzen, Jack and MG1878. Excellent feedback. @throzen. Many great tips. CSS - yep, I need to gather it all together and farm it off to another file. I've never had an issue with tables - but you're right, they are a thing of the past, so DIVs it is. I must admit - the logo has kind of grown on me, but I'll take your comment on board and if it keeps getting negative feedback I'll look into a redesign. The about page was coded to be all in the same file to incorporate some transitional effects - I just haven't put them on yet. More images - yep, definitely. Resizing - I'll look into that as well. Thanks so much for taking the time - really appreciated. @Jack - great tips as well - awesome links, thanks for those. I'm addressing the colours as I type - looks better already. I'll work on the clarity of the text as well. @MG1878 - the two headers are a Microsoft recommended method to prevent browser caching. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/222064 Cheers guys, you've given me a lot to think about and work to do - but you've also made my day as well. Paul

Which site-design to go for?
You might like: Add this css to the first div just below 'wrapper-2' border: 11px; border-color: #b7b7b7; border-style: solid;

A different type of review - 'How is my coding?'
Looks fine. Great design for a dialog. You could achieve the same effect using a good ol' html table - but that would be swings and roundabouts. The main problem I've encountered with using lots of divs is losing track of how many you've closed! Thankfully most recent ide's takes that little bug-bear a thing of the past.

Hiya, Could you check out https://buttonific.com It has yet to be released into the wild, so all feedback will be taken most seriously and will influence the site. As it's a closed beta, if you register interest (from the landing page) I'll send you out a beta invite as soon as possible. It's all free and there is no advertising on the site. Thanks, Paul

My first JavaScript app
Don't you find pure javascript rather verbose after coding with jQuery? I personally find if I'm coding a block of dynamic html it's handy to build it all into a variable and then append that all in one go. That way, you can manipulate it to your hearts content

Hi
Hello, Like many others on this site, I am just a bloke with an idea and a dream - those two fused together ignited a potential way too exciting to ignore. So here I am, shiny new website in hand with many rough edges to tackle, looking for and to share advice, ideas and guidance. I come armed with a modicum of experience in HTML, Javascript, jQuery, php, ASP.Net MVC and dabble with Inkscape for my images. I am always approachable and will help where I can. This looks life an excellent community and I'm looking forward to being an active member. Cheers, Paul Phillips
