  1. I am just learning web design and the lanugages used to code good websites. When I first became a member of this great forum, and up untill today, I thought that most proffessional web developers coded everything from scratch. But I just read a high-octane thread about wordpress and other cms apps and discovered that alot use wordpress etc to build their entire websites!! Have I miss undertood this, I thought wordpress was used for blogs as I asked in another thread how best to create a blog on a website and was pointed to wordpress. Can someone explain just what is a cms and what you guys use it for? thanks
  2. Last one - "We even have our own vacume!". But my real favs are "style at a snip" and "Cutting the cost of style". Hope this helps if you're still looking.
  3. Or even, "Your house, Your hair, and Your tea!"
  4. Or, "Cutting the cost of style"
  5. Without a doubt, "style at a snip" by far the best - seriously
  6. I have made an image in both png and gif, with a transparent background. But I can see white and grey pixels around the image, in both formats. How do I get rid of this. see http://test.utuze.com/church+kids.php Thanks everyone
  7. Actually, I'll just give you the link to the script and tutoriel. Its really quick and to the point tutorial with the script clearly assigned. The example form at the top of the tutorial is in pink and looks horrid. The script does not style the form to that colour, so you won't have to make changes in the script, the tutorial has just used an external css to style the example, thank goodness. One other thing, the script includes a php file name "sendeail", this should be "sendemail" so you may want to change that in both the contact form script and the sendemail script. It really uis easy to do, should take 10mins max, and you will be up and running. the link is http://www.ibdhost.com/contact/ All the best
  8. Hi mate. If you are looking for a simple forum script, for free, I wouldn't bother with capturing a script and changing it to suite. There are some really good forum applications out there which are totally free, so why not use one of those. these things are there ready for you to upload to your server and its not that hard to follow the setup process, which should just come with the download in a readme file, allot easier then actually messing with the nuts and bolts of a script from some tutorial. Put a search in google for free or open source form/bulletin programs and you find something the suits you. I use vbulletin - which is not free but very powerful - but they have a forum on their website (Not suprisingly), and many threads talk about these free forum apps, many of which are recommended by vbulletin users. There are free, ready made-forums out there which will save your allot of time, and get the favour turned round sharpish!! All the best!
  9. Perfect Mr E. Man your help has been that of a superhero
  10. ok, so you are allowed to remove any wordpress logo's etc, so a visitor wouldnt even know its a seperate application?
  11. Thanks mate, will try, is it possible to intergrate into my site?
  12. I want to intergrate a blog page, with all the usual elements like "post a respose" to this article and "sign up to our rss feed". Is there a fairly straight forward way of achieving this and intergrating, or am I as well to just get a free blogging account with someone and just link to it from my site? Thankyou
  13. Hi Mate, I have some nice, very efficient code for an email for and validation, however, on the validation page you have to click a link to take you back to the form. The validation page will display a message depending on what happened, ie. successful, invalid email adress etc. So it does everything you want, but it does not automatically redirect. But it works really well, and you only have to make four changes to make it your own. I can post the script if you want it, but if you realy want the auto redirect it won't help.
  14. Had a look at those and they appear not to be forms but a way of sending emails from your website. You fill in the message actuall in the code and when you upload the script to your website, it sends a message to the adress in the code. Its wierd, why would anyone do this. I still keep looking, thanks for your help.
  15. Brilliant mate, thanks alot, I'll take a gander. Have a good evening friend
  16. Hi, I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction to find out how to create a simple but effective email submission form. I just want a form thats collects the users name, email address, subject title, and text area for the message, then a clear button and a submitt button to send the client the email and a copy sent to the senders email as well, then be redirected to a thankyou page. I have googled it but can't seem to find one that meets my requirements, I don't want one that uses the senders email -lient to send the message, it just looks unproffessional. Any ideas? Thanks everyone!! I do appreciate it
  17. I am using ff3, I checked like you said. Yes that is right the two Headings are all over the place which is a result of getting the page to validate. It fully validates now but these heading are out of place, but everything is perfect in IE
  18. ok mate, thanks. Sounds like ff3 is better then 2 to me
  19. ok, I just set the main page background to z-index-10. Can you check in firefox 2... If you can now see the page? thanks I'm using firefox 3
  20. My site fully validates now. So what is going on with firefox 2? This is causing me to have a aheadache. People keep telling me that firefox doesn't display it correctly and I don't know how to solve it. Is there anyone who can help. The site is validated and ready to roll. but I don't want any cross browser issues. Please help
  21. Thanks mate that is spot on. Is it a good idea then to use underscores to separate filenames?
  22. Thanks for the tip on the site map my old fruit. I'm not hiding text! You can see the links. There is no white text on any white background. The css background may be white, but the div element picture behind the white links is dark grey. so everyone is supposed to see them. You are obviousely seeing it different from most people with your firefox version, but if you view it through i.e for example, then you will see what I mean. As for validation, I am aware of the two invalide items, but I have left them in so as to display the heading correctly in my ff. If I make the H1 and H2 headings validate, they do not display correctly in my ff for some reason.????
  23. This is confusing me. I am using FF, I think it is 2 if not 1 and it works fine for me and all the content is displaying fine (other than a small problem with the news panel) The links are in white at the bottom but they are not hidden as they are on a grey background and are there because a searchbot would struggle or even fail to spot the links in the dropdowns and therefore fail to index all my pages. This is not an attempt to trick the search engines and they are there for all to see. I have done a vlidation check on the page and it is fine. Firefox seems to be a problem for alot of users and designers.
  24. Hi rob, Have you tried aligning the body to centre i.e. your body tag instead of it being just <body> make it <body align="centre"> I don't know if this will work for sure, I am a beginner also, but it seems logical to me
  25. Ye but I bet there were only for search results for your key word.. Only joking. You are only as good as your last site submitt, so really well done. What do you do to optimise your site that maybe you feel helped to get such a good position in such a short space of time for your last site? It can't just be the basics (I don't even know the basics) Anyway, keep up the good work!!
