  1. Take print offs, your laptop and a memory stick – cover everything! The job interviews I’ve been to usually allow you to use their computers so I just stuck in a memory stick, but best to have alternatives
  2. Can't you just select the bit you want, copy it into a new illustrator document then save for web? Also, did you work for limo broker in Cardiff?
  3. The window stickers are called 'Window decals'
  4. its okay, I worked it out! head hurts
  5. Hello! I’m having a problem with adding two different background images to a site. I’ve got a gradient image on the HTML tag and a large image on the body tag, but they don’t work together, if i remove the HTML bit then the body background works otherwise i can only see the gradient. Here’s the CSS html { background: #5dbc46 url(../images/bg-grad.jpg) repeat-x; } body { padding: 0; margin: 0; background: url(../images/bg.jpg) no-repeat center top; } please help!
  6. Does anyone know the best way for a charity website to take donations? I’m going to be building a new site for them and they have requested that they want donations to be taken via the site. At the moment they have just listed an address for cheques and their bank account details. Thanks!
  7. Followed the last few recent posts!
  8. ah thanks, I did have a quick search but couldn't find anything recent
  9. I'm fairly new to twitter so would love to find some web design people to follow (I don't know many!) So what's your twitter name?
  10. I like it, only thing that could possibly do with some work is the navigation. The font just doesn't sit right with the rest of the style
  11. I had to design a "bad" website like the first one for a presentation thing a few years ago, I found it surprisingly hard to do!
  12. Personally I wouldn't worry too much about design until you’re planning on going public with it. If you're still at the stage where you're playing around with the workings and development of it I'd just carry on until its "finished" Any good designer will be able to work around whatever you produce. If you don't want to hire a designer there are loads of resources and templates online that'll help you. You can also post the layout on places like this, people are always willing to give their opinion. For now stick to neutral colours, no more than a couple of different fonts, basic navigation. Design around it once you're happy with the content
  13. Thanks everyone. Just thought it was a bit odd but will keep an eye on things
  14. Photoshop Illustrator Notepad++ A good eye for design, layout and typography (for web designers that is) Oh and dual monitors, could not do without!
  15. Not done any off site SEO yet, I want to add more content before I try and promote things properly. I thought that might be the case, new site, needs time to settle. I just wanted another opinion so thank you!
  16. I hope so, when I first went to make my site I opened up Photoshop and spent 10 minutes trying to work out how to draw a 1000px long rectangle. Things have got a lot easier since then, haha
  17. My site has been live for about a month now and got listed in Google within a few days, it was doing as i expected it would. It was ranking first for my name and on about page 11 for the highly competitive keyword "web design Cardiff". Just over a week ago it disappeared for "web design Cardiff" and has slipped down to 5th for my name (behind my facebook pages and yell listings, i'll add I have a very unusual name and nothing else really ranks for it) I feel like the site is being punished for something. It's been a long time since I last did any web design work (3 years) so i’m a little rusty on everything. So i'm not sure if this is just how new sites behave now or if there is something else going on. Webmasters tools says there's no issue and I haven't done anything that should upset google, so really i'm just checking if this is normal behaviour for a new site? Any ideas? Should I just leave it? It's not important that I rank at the moment so i'm not too concerned but will be if it stays like this thanks!
  18. Hi there! I've just started freelancing as a web designer after being out of work for 3 years to look after my children. I used to do web design full time as my job but feel like I'm starting from the beginning again. As I've never done freelancing before and i'm a little rusty on everything I thought I'd join a forum for support!
