Problem is: I’m not (yet) a 123reg customer, so Tsohost logij credentials don’t work. And 123reg says: For assistance with your current tsoHost products, please start a chat or open a support ticket within your tsoHost Control Panel. which is exactly what I did 2 weeks ago. And if I reach out to them by phone, how would I be able to identify myself? Giving them my name, email address, address etc should hopefully not be sufficient to receive an auth code.

Hi all, I've got 3 websites, all of which have their domain reg and hosting with tsohost. Their prices have gone up, whilst support became worse – and in October this year they'll become part of 123-reg.co.uk. Two weeks ago, I've sent them a support ticket, asking for authcodes for my websites, so I can move to another provider. From previous experience, this shouldn't take longer than 3-5 working days. So I nudged them about a week ago, but still no reply. Live-chat is unavailable (although their website states otherwise), and telephone support has been ditched a long time ago. What are my options in order to escalate this? Some kind of "internet authority"? Many thanks for your help!

Any ideas?

Hi, I've got several photos for each product. Woocommerce shows the featured image with smaller thumbnails below. When I click on one of the thumbnails, the lightbox opens. Does anyone know a plugin that changes the main product image (as soon as the respective thumbnail is clicked), instead of opening the image in a lightbox? Thank you!

Hi, I'd like to create a shop for downloadable products. Ideally, the download links for each product should be unique. So customers can't share the link with others. At the same time, I'd like the system to remember which customer has downloaded which products. So that when a customer deletes their product, they can re-download it again. Has anyone here got experience with this kind of thing? Which approach would you recommend? Thanks a lot!

Hi, In the past I had quite a few good ideas for domain names and often found that the .com or .co.uk were already domain squatted. (And I'm not even talking "one-word-name".com... ). There's one name in particular, I've been looking at for 1-2 years and it keeps getting renewed, yet there's absolutely ZERO content on that si. Anyway. I feel that with the new TLD coming out now, there's opportunity for me to register my desired domain-name with a suitable TLD and I want to be "first in the queue" so-to-say. Are there any official launch dates for the new TLDs? And where can I find out which domain name seller will actually be selling a specific TLD? Some sites offer "pre-registration" – is there any benefit in doing so, or is it just a money-making scheme, with no guaranteed domain name in the end? Appreciate all your thoughts & comments on this!

And how wordpress puts the various blocks together using php to output html.... so, yes, I understand how thiings interact. But I wouldn't be able to write a single line of useful PHP code... maybe some other day in the future

I have a project coming up that might need a WordPress Multi Site setup. I'm fairly familiar with WordPress, and am confident about design, CSS theme modifications & very basic PHP. But because I've never done anything with a WPMS setup for a client, I am not 100% certain if I would be able to deliver... How steep is the learning curve when moving from a standard WP site to a multi-site? Is it basically just about adding another 'Super Admin' kind of layer at the top of the hierarchy? Or is it a lot more involved than that? (Server-side knowledge for example?) Would most of the 'normal' plugins work in a WPMS environment? Would shared hosting be sufficient in the beginning, say for 5-10 sites/subdomains? Or is shared hosting a definite no-go / only dedicated servers? Thanks a lot!!

Thanks, Jane! Strange that they don't mention Genesis at all. From what I've seen, it has a very strong community. And in conjunction with Dynamik Website Builder (formerly known as Catalyst), it seems relatively designer-friendly...

Hi, I want to move on from customizing premium themes, to using a framework. Main reason: more flexibility; and I don't want to find the names for css classes every time I use a new theme before I can modify it. I've done my homework, read many reviews, and I want to make the right decision between 2 options: Headwaythemes Genesis (plus the Dynamik Website Builder) I find the visual builder in Headwaythemes very attractive. Genesis / Dynamik Website Builder ain't too bad either, but no "drag&drop" design is probably more labour intense... Questions, questions.... Genesis seems more flexible than Headway, right? Has anyone worked with both frameworks, or moved on from one to the other? Most importantly: cost... http://headwaythemes.com/pricing/ Does this mean I _HAVE_ to renew my license every year?? Or is the renewal only if I want _support_ for another year? (I've contacted headway, but haven't heard back from them yet). Thanks for your advice / opinions on this...

Well – from all the reviews on the web, as well as recommendations (including from this forum here), TSOhost are a good host. I thought I had made an informed decision on that... Their customer service, at least, is truly great.

I'm with TSOHost – which has had raving reviews pretty much everywhere. Anyone else got an opinion on this? Also: I've just done a performance test via http://www.webpagetest.org/ – using London as a location to access my website. Looking at the test result graph, from what I understand: index.html in the domain root gets downloaded within 2700ms. DNS Lookup and Content download is a tiny fraction of that time – and over 90% of those 2700ms are "time to first byte". As I said: Shared server / WordPress. OK, I understand... but: over 2 seconds of "waiting for first byte"????

Hi, My website is a bit slow, and I appreciate that a shared server isn't as fast as a dedicated server. Also, I'm running on Wordpress, which is resource hungry... Anyway, I did a quick check via http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/web-sites-on-web-server/ to see how many other sites I'm hosted with, and it turns out it's over 1000. Is this good, or bad? Or industry average? Also, some of the pages are indidcated as "explicit content", and yougetsignal says that this may affect my webpage ranging. Is this true? (Actually, I checked some of the highlighted sites and only a fraction of them is actually adult content...) Many thanks!!

Hi, I've got a section on my wordpress-based photography website, where people can inspect the image quality with a zoom functionality. (I'm using the Magic Zoom plugin for that): On mouse-over/hover over the thumbnail, a zoom window opens, which shows a small part of the image that is linked to the thumbnail. This is a reasonable protection against image-theft. The only problem is: the page source code displays the link to the large image file (inside the <a> tag). So people can still copy & paste that link into their browser to see the entire linked image. Is there a way (by plugin or .htaccess?) to protect all images inside a certain directory from being displayed when a user enters the image path into their browser? Or would this also mean that my site also can't display the image anymore? Thanks a lot for your input!

What do you mean by dedicated products template? I thought one could only use one template at the time... I tried creating a separate products overview page for Facebook (using WooCommerce shortcodes to only show certain products). But as soon as the single product page gets displayed in the iFrame, the layout falls apart. I don't know why it doesn't react like any normal responsive site. Very strange.

I tried an iFrame with 100% width & height, but it messes up my product page layout: product image becomes very small, product description tabs get crammed together. My page template is responsive, and I know my product pages look ok, even on older smart-phones (iPhone 3gs). Is there some sort of "iFrame" code that makes a page responsive? So, basically it looks the same on Facebook as it would on a smartphone (held in vertical format)?

I've also been wondering if people buy through Facebook. Personally I wouldn't, but we're all individuals who tick differently. That said – there's not only the cost of the extension, but also the cost for a SSL Certificate. Quite steep, as I'm just launching the shop and haven't earnt anything yet. This is for a photography website. I'm trying to sell fine art prints of my work. But at the same time have my facebook page as a normal "fan page" for my business, i.e. for potential commissioned work. SO, whilst a shop would be nice to have on FB, I don't want the page to have too much a "shop" kind of feel... Might opt for option 1 then (albeit the more expensive one)...

Found 2 plug-ins/extensions so far: Facebook Tab (from WooCommerce) Social Commerce (from Obox Themes) Couldn't find any reviews or comparison. What's the difference between them? Hi, I'm doing a website with Wordpress as a CMS. Background colour is 222222 (off-black). Now I would like to add a background extension to some of the photographs for the website, with the same colour (222222 in Photoshop's colour picker). When I save the JPG (without ANY colour profile), and place the image on the website, there is still a visible difference between the two colours, i.e. the image doesn't properly blend. I know about Photoshop's web-safe colour palette, but this only offers 333333, which is a bit too bright. Unfortunately I can't work with transparency in this case. Any suggestions? What am I doing wrong?

Had a look at their site, and their examples. They're pretty expensive – and it looks as if they're more geared towards setting up an image library. (Could't find any print checkout system in their examples).

Hi, I'd like to set up a website for my photography, to sell prints of my photographs. Ideally, the website would be done with WordPress – but I'm open to other suggestions. I've already had a good look at various eCommerce solutions. There's so many options out there, it's quite confusing. So I'm hoping that someone here can point me in the right direction. Ideally, I would like to have some sort of hierarchical structure for the galleries, AND also combine the photo-galleries with the e-commerce part. In other words: I'd prefer NOT to have two separate "Gallery" and "Print Sales" sections. For example: 1) The homepage has the usual links (Gallery, About, Contact) 2) Click on "Gallery" -> shows a gallery page with links to various albums (Portrait, Landscape, Wildlife) 3) Click on one of the albums -> opens a page with various thumbnails 4) Click on ont of the thumbnails -> opens a page with a larger version of the image, INCLUDING purchase button (and maybe a "Share on Social Media" button) 5) Click on "Purchase" button -> opens the eCommerce for that particular image, with 3-4 different print sizes + pricing Zenfolio and Photoshelter offer something similar to the above, but they somehow anonymize the gallery and image html links. For example, instead of ".../UK/Lake-Distirct/Lake-District-Sunrise.jpg", their links read ".../6429/ah7298ajlk.jpg" – which of course is bad for SEO. I hope someone here can help me & point me towards the right direction. Thanks a lot everyone!
