  1. Thanks Rob. Will steer clear.
  2. I've been pottering away on Deign Crowd for the last couple of days (their UI is abit dodgy), what I really wanted to ask is if anyone had any first hand knowledge of designing for clients on there. Any horror stories etc.. Thanks.
  3. Tim, I think putting you site up for analysis is a brave and commendable thing to do. Especially at your age. They don't pull their punches on here. And that can be a good thing. It can give you a real reality check. I think your site is good. Especially if you're just starting out. I'd agree with the person who said you should have hover elements on your nav bar. I'd extend this further by adding that making your site interactive is appealing to users. Even if it's just a underline on a hyperlink or even more ubiquitous - a carousel slider. One thing I think you should look into is the logo design. There is a lot of room for improvement there. And going on into the future, developing your own style and branding that sets you apart from the others. There's also looking into who exactly your target demographic is, but I think the more you'll go along the more you'll learn about what kind of sites you want to design and who you want to design for. But if I was a young kid right now I'd go and learn responsive and mobile design. That's the future. Good luck.

Hi, Trying to figure out how you have text appear in a search box. When you click in the box the text disappears and when you click out of it, if it's empty the word re appears. Thanks.
  6. I like big buttons and I cannot lie.
  7. Welcome, don't worry about asking novice questions. They're very good with advice 'round here.

  9. Thanks! This is invaluable.
  10. I agree with you Mike. I'd rather be using a css solution. But all the examples have slight niggles with them. Especially in IE. So I went the JS route and it seems to work. Have a butchers. Thanks for all the help Sash and Mike.
  11. You know when you get sites where they have one background image that encompasses the whole screen. How do you grizzly old veterans do it? I found this code: body{background:#000 url(i/bg-deal.jpg) no-repeat center center fixed; -webkit-background-size: cover; -moz-background-size: cover; -o-background-size: cover; background-size: cover; filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaImageLoader(src='i/bg-deal.jpg', sizingMethod='scale'); -ms-filter: "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaImageLoader(src='i/bg-deal.jpg', sizingMethod='scale')"; } body.bg-alt{background:#000 url(i/bg-deal.jpg) no-repeat center center fixed; -webkit-background-size: cover; -moz-background-size: cover; -o-background-size: cover; background-size: cover; filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaImageLoader(src='i/bg-deal.jpg', sizingMethod='scale'); -ms-filter: "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaImageLoader(src='i/bg-deal.jpg', sizingMethod='scale')"; } But it won't work in IE.
  12. Out of curiosity, has it ever happened to you? And were there handcuffs involved.
  13. Wow, some amazing whining on here. Woe is me, there's too many young people in my industry and they don't work as hard as me. I'm teh bestest web designer in the whole universe. But nobody appreciates me. I'm an artist. Please validate me. Boo hoo. You should just get over yourselves.
