Hello everyone, I am looking to see if anyone is interested in working with me on design & web projects. I will put it simply what I can provide and what I am looking for from a potential partner/associate. About Me: I am 21 years old, I live in North London and I have been a casual digital designer for many years. Recently I had some work experience with a design company and after seeing how they conducted business I definately feel I can do the same and better with the help from the right partner. My skills & what I can provide: - Many years of Photoshop experience. - Working knowledge of the design/marketing business. (worked for a company in London who did Digital Marketing). - Solid knowledge of Ilustrator, always improving/practicing. - Professional attitude and connections in the design industry, 2D & 3D. - Keen to learn, make money and produce ground-breaking work for print and web. - Good sense of humour. - Basic HTML, Css & PHP knowledge with good CMS experience. - Strong knowledge of SEO and marketing practices, however I haven't myself put them into practice. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What I am looking for: - Preferably someone aged 18 or over - Experience in the design industry, whether its from business side or design side. - Somebody with a good knowledge of coding, or contacts in that field of web development, mainly because that is my weakest area. - Professional attitude with a good sense of humour, and a willingness to learn and contribute. - Ideally someone who has made money already from design/web development etc.. - Someone with knowledge of business/tax/legal issues. I am a hard worker and I believe a mutually beneficial partner would be a great step forward. Please understand I am a junior in terms of my experience, but my ambition is far from the small scale. Hey Connor, Overall not a bad job mate, I like some elements of your portfolio, but it does need work in my opinion. I will go through a few features I would personally change. 1. I am not keen on your navigation alignment, The links should be centred between the spacer lines. 2. I agree about the rounded egde shapes, they dont look very nice especially with a fairly harsh drop-shadow. I would consider a simple square and also reconsider how you put your imagery inside the shape because your work looks stretched and odd. Make sure you are carefully re-sizing your work. Same goes for the About Page, your profile pic should be within a square, maybe a 5px white border to show it as a polaroid style. 3. 'My Skills' section in About page the bullet points need to be re-aligned to match the rest of the content. They are pushed to the right of your headers. 4. Contact form hasnt been properly set, you can send a message without inputting any content. Set certain parameters for your form, such as required fields. 5. Link your email address to mail service in Contact page. 6. Portfolio page again, problem with the boxes. I hope that is constructive, it looks like a lot of problems I have with it, but that isnt the case, they are minor changes that I feel could really make a strong impact to your website and make it look more professional. The design and marketing company I recently was at used : http://mailchimp.com/ It is free, has its own fairly decent email design creator, but you can upload your own designs too. Hopefully that is what you are looking for

If you use a CMS such as Wordpress for your website, you can find a whole range of image plugins, which allow you to easily upload and display images in loads of ways. http://wordpress.org/ http://wordpress.org/plugins/ Good luck!

I agree with the others, I would strongly advise against building a website solely for the purpose of selling url shortening services. As most have stated, there are so many free ones out there it would not be a good business venture, in fact it would be an incredible waste of your time. If you are offering this subscription for free however and are trying to set yourself apart from other sites then perhaps its worth still doing, but even then only maybe.

Something to think about it what standard you want to set, if you start by offering/providing a quick reponse and then gradually you can't provide that anymore your client may feel as though you aren't giving them the attention they require. However, you do want to be quick enough to suggest they're important to you, but not so fast its detrimental to business. I personally think each case/client will be different, and you 'go with the flow' and respond as necessary.

Hey everyone, I was an active member of the forum a year or so ago and I am now back to try and learn and help others too. Since last being here I have had a couple months of industry experience working as a junior creative working on company branding, website design and marketing. I believe I have learnt a lot in the past year or so from that and also self teaching myself different aspects of design. I would love to be part of this community again which looks like its grow quite a bit since I was last around. I am looking to maybe go into freelancing and build some contacts here, whilst giving advice and also looking for feedback too. Ok well that makes sense, so using companies like Moo or Vistaprint is professional still? I want to make sure the service I provide is top quality if I am going to do it, and having work done by someone else is stressful lol but I suppose I havr to build my contacts and get reliable people. I appreciate the advice, how would I go about finding somebody to partner up with in terms of web coding? Do members of the forum partner up with eachother at all? Thanks for the help, I will look into different priting companies and see which best suits me and maybe in the future I wil be able to do it myself to cut costs etc

Hey everyone, It has probably been asked in a different way many times but specifically I would like some advice on my situation... Basically, I believe in my design skills when I work hard I feel I can achieve quality work in any form of design, whether its a website, brand identity, product etc.. However, I have been interested lately in starting a website for me to freelance my design skills from, the problem is, is that for example if a client wanted a greeting card designed for example, I could design it but how would I really provide a service which would be getting it printed on proper card, with envelope etc and send it out to them? It doesnt seem very good to me, if I were to just design it, and send them a jpeg with the design and then have them figure out themselves how to get it produced properly. I hope that makes sense, I guess what i am asking is, how do i go about getting stuff produced such as greetings cards, products, websites (coded) etc.. without any knowledge of business myself.
