  1. thanks for the advice, i have seemed to isolate the problem, abd turning off joomla's built in cache seemed to do the trick, oddly
  2. Hi all, I have just built a new joomla website for the school I work at ( Teignmouth Community School www.teignmouth.devon.sch.uk) It seemed to run fine in the testing phase, but now its live and SWGFL have changed the DNS ( I know this should not effect the running of the site) the site has a few issues, the biggest being on the home page (mill lane primary phase ) it seems something is conflicting or not being called which is stopping the menu dropdowns from loading. Now I developed a joomla site as I am not particulaly ofey with coding, I know just enough to get by with templating hacks, ( I am an apprentice who was tasked to build a new site, and have had no trainnig in web design....) please could someone point me in the right direction? http://web03.vws.ifl.net/~r37670/joomla/index.php/en/ many thanks!
  3. Hi all, I don't use phpmyadmin much, am trying to export joomla content from our old Joomla 1x site to the replacement 2.5 site. however the old site is using plesk, and an old version of phpMyAdmin (2.8.2.4) I am following a tutorial, which says I need to Add "CREATE PROCEDURE / FUNCTION / EVENT" option, but I don't have this option available, is there an alternative, I can do??? the tutorial I am following is here ; http://www.howtoforge.com/how-to-migrate-joomla-content-articles-using-phpmyadmin please help, as I have 1860 articles to shift!
  4. Hi all. I am building a Joomla 2.5 Primary School Website, and instead of using css I want to use images (sad I know) for the module backgrounds, but I would like to use individual images (as they have little icons and titles) I cant seem to do this ! its driving me nuts, I found the modules.css document, I basically want to create a class for each individual module with a background image property, as at the moment it applies to all of them. I found a couple css files within the individual module installation packs, made some changes but the content (say on 'Freeslider-sp1' slides over the background image, also with 'gCalendar-Upcoming events, the dates are just a bit too high, tried adding padding/margins to no avail, this really isn't my day! some one help me before I go insane please! this is what I want them to look like (different images for different modules though) As far as I got without committing suicide LOL modules.css template.css if there is any other files in question feel free to ask
  5. Hi, all. I havnt done any css for a while so bear with me! I'm trying to change the use of a image which is repeated repeat-y 50% 0 the page is supposed to be 960px wide, with shadow and floating center. so instead of the image i wanted to use css, everytime I change the width, it wont float center, but I need to difine the width somehow else it covers the whole body. here is what Ive got...It's a bit messy... /*.bg1{background:url(../images/shadow-bg.png) repeat-y 50% 0}*/ .bg1{background:#fff; width:960px; alignment-adjust:middle;-moz-box-shadow: 3px 3px 4px #CCC; -webkit-box-shadow: 3px 3px 4px #CCC; box-shadow: 3px 3px 4px #CCC; /* For IE 8 */ -ms-filter: "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Shadow(Strength=4, Direction=135, Color='#CCCCCC')"; /* For IE 5.5 - 7 */ filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Shadow(Strength=4, Direction=135, Color='#CCCCCC');} PLEASE HELP! 9. Hi all, am working on Teignmouth Community School's Welcome Page, and have had this odd background issue, I cant remember when it started occurring but its driving me nuts now, I don't think its a css issue, maybe an untidy HTML markup or something? I don't know. here's the URL http://www.teignmouth.devon.sch.uk/tcs_welcome4/. also does anyone know a good way of making sure the page and image objects resize for low res, at the mo I have had to make the slideshow 400x272px and people with a large res like me have to put up with small images....not ideal Many thanks in advance!
  10. thanks for the advice, yeh I guessed that might be the case. just need to learn php and mysql then lol.

  14. Hi all, been developing a welcome page for teignmouth community school, i found a site i realy like that uses a background image. normally i steer away from this and use a css grad, but on this occasion I would like to know if it was possible, or even easy to set a background image, that displays at 100% on all resolutions?? the raw image I am planning on using would be from my DSLR (3888px X 2592px) Please help!

  21. Hi, I have almost completed my website, and have found little (major) problems across browsers, apart from this one. I have found that my news scroller on the home page is not formatting correctly in IE7 but working correctly in IE8. Chrome, Firefox and Safari. For some reason I cant post links yet! but the website is: chris-chapman-creative-media.co.cc Please help!! regards,
  22. Hi I have now fixed the problem! Having already used the conflict script once I decided to change to a jquery driven lightbox. In the end I went for slimbox2, this is directly compatible with lightbox, same effect etc, just using jquery1.3 upwards. also no need to change rel tags! big bonus
  23. no i don't as it is offline, and I cant upload links until iv'e made 25 posts apparently! but I can hapily give/upload js/html files in question
  24. Hi I have now come across another problem with my site, I am using a jquery slideshow for my banner and also using lightbox 2.04. I had a conflict with the two before which stopped my slideshow from working, this was fixed by var $j = jQuery.noConflict(); function slideSwitch() { var $jactive = $j('#slideshow IMG.active'); the two worked in harmony, great fix! however now I have added more photos to the cue for the slideshow, adjusted the selection to var $jsibs = $jactive.siblings(); var rndNum = Math.floor(Math.random() * $jsibs.length ); var $jnext = $j( $jsibs[ rndNum ] ); . I thought everything was fine when using Google Chrome as it is fine! however lightbox has stopped functioning in IE 7,8 havnt tested other browsers of yet, just when I thoght everything was all finished typical!! please help asap as its for my A2 media coursework deadline a week today cheers!
  25. Problem Solved!! thanks, Alias! lots of head scratching minimized!
