Juc1 got a reaction from PhilW in How to start an online shop?
I made an online shop using Drupal Ubercart a few months ago and it works fine. At the time Drupal Commerce was not suitable because it was quite limited in the UK payment gateways it supported - I don't know right now if that has since improved.

Light on dark tends to require slightly looser leading to be readable on screen in some typefaces - largely depends on weight, counters and other characteristics of the face. Font antialiasing also behaves differently (in some browser/OS combinations - YMMV).

Edit: I've also noticed a perceptible difference between #fefefe on black and #fff on black - more than the difference in hex values would suggest.

I actually think it's the opposite; use dark text on light backgrounds. There is a reason why a lot of modern minimalists sites are dark text on white backgrounds.

Mike is absolutely right, though. You want to temper the harshness of text by using #333 or some other shade of dark grey to replace black body copy.

EDIT: I do recall reading/hearing that one exception to this would be for presentations. Since you are typically in a super dark room, having slides with a white background is more taxing on the eye than the inverse.

Doesn't make that much difference to my eyes.
One thing though, don't use absolute contrasting shades such as #fff for the background and #000 for the text. Use a dark grey for the text rather than the absolute black as it helps prevent ghosting.

It's definitely better if they add you as admin because of this incident I had.

One my clients wanted me to create their website and develop their facebook and twitter presence. Since I needed to do a lot of work on the facebook system, I created it with my account. Once the project was finished, I tried to remove it from the application list by assigning someone else. But facebook does not allow that. Now I'm stuck with that application being affiliated with me. I requested facebook to remove me as the admin and add someone else, but they never responded to any of my requests.

So save yourself the trouble and have them add you as an admin.

    Correct,
You'll need to have a personal one as business pages are created and linked directly to you as a personal user.
Create a fake personal page, such as 'John Smith' etc etc then lock down all the security and access to it and then create your business page through that. That's the only way to do it if you don't want a personal presence on Facebook.

As far as I know a personal facebook account is required (ie to login) before you can set up a business page.

    Hi Juc1

I would suggest that you use the views module
    drupal.org/project/views

After downloading and enabling the module you should see an additional item on the administration page called 'views' [it is under site building].

Clicking on 'views' takes you to a section which lists all of the views your site currently has [pre-built views].

You need to create a custom view and this can be done clicking on 'add' [next to list].

You need to complete the 'view name' and 'view description' fields and after ensuring that the 'view type' is a node click next. This will take you on to the default views section [the part of the module controls all of the parameters that will make up your custom view].

One thing to bear in mind is that views are not saved until you click 'save'. Nothing is recorded as you go along.

Clicking on the '+' icon allows you to add a field. Clicking on the 'arrows' allows you to rearrange and delete your selected fields.

When working with the interface after clicking on a field the options that are available to you appear just below the list of settings you just clicked on but before the live preview section.

To make a custom view of a blog post based upon the taxonomy terms you need use the following settings:

    (i) fields section:
    node: title
    node: body

You make your selections (the check boxes) and hit add.
You will be given some options for each selection. With the body selection remove the word label to take out the label and then click 'update'. For the title selection, again remove the word title from the label but also mark the check box 'Link this field to its node ' [at the bottom] just before clicking update.

    (ii) filters section
    node: type
    taxonomy: term
    node: published

Again make your selections and then hit add.
For node:published select yes and hit update, for taxonomy:term 'select is equal to' and then write the term [so Fish or Cats] and hit update and finally for node:type select 'is one of' and then select 'blog entry' before hitting update.

If you hit preview you will now see how the page is looking.

You could add more options such as the taxonomy term but adding more fields to your fields selection. Unfortunately I'm not sure how you add the submitted details [submitted by Arnold on Mon, 07/19/2010 - 18:09] but I'm sure it is in there somewhere.

The final steps you need to take are to create a page for your view.

At the top of the views interface you will see a drop down list of options, page is usually the default but there are other options such as 'attachment', 'block' and 'feed'. Make sure page is selected and hit add display.

Page should appear below the word default and you can see that it is highlighted as it should have a white background.

You need to look at the 'page settings options'. Click on the blue italic phrase 'None' next to path and add your path then click update. Repeat this option for the menu if needs be.

Save the view and then browse to your chosen path.

Another option you might want to look at is the items to display field in the 'basic settings' block. It is usually set to 10 but you can amend this limit.

If you create more than one display, eg page and an rss feed you would need to look at using the override some of the fields have as if you make a change to one display it changes all the displays in that view (unless override has been adopted).

    Hope that helps,

    Paul
