  1. I'm not sure about V1 & V2. I think V3 is the one to be going for.
  2. Have you had a look at your image use and sizes? I ran Google Speed Checker on it and load times were quite slow for your site by the way. Fix this and you might go up in the search engine rankings slightly. Hope this helps,
  3. By the way, in case any one uses Wordpress, Joomla! etc. ... You can get components and plug-ins that automatically count keyword density. Wordpress has a good one in its' archive and Joomla! is having its' first released next week! (I would know, we're releasing it http://www.media-street.co.uk/virtuemart DON'T PURCHASE IT- IT'LL BE CHEAPER NEXT WEEK WHEN OFFICIALLY FINISHED). People should try them. They're actually quite effective. (sorry if this sounds like a crappy advert for Media Street!)
  4. Hi all, Just a quick one... Just got a new design for one of my clients, it's a Facebook page (a first!). Let me know what you think. http://www.facebook.com/balloon.rides Thanks in advance,
  5. @notbanksy , what do you think of that header / blue bar at the top now? I've minimilised it and put text instead of images. Starting to think that bit of the site is working .... what do you think?
  6. Just was looking a bit further round the site. The "What we Do" page is all pictures. Get rid of this. Images making up the majority of the page and displaying text is dangerous. Not only will search engines not be able to read the text but also the page loading times will increase.
  7. Yep I agree with the above. The site isn't actually to bad visually. Replace the tables and you've got a simple to use little website.
  8. Right..... just been working on it again. Please have a look and let me know what you think of the following: Darker top navigation: http://ballooning-centre.co.uk/aerosaurus/ Smooth Photo Pages: http://www.ballooning-centre.co.uk/aerosaurus/flight-photos/flt9575 (we created a bespoke component for Virtuemart it manages a SEF url for pics, allows instant download or post, also has HIDE IF for delivery option etc.) Generally. What's everyone's thoughts? Please no comments about the flash header . Thanks in advance
  9. The slideshow is the easy part. Just had a plain ordinary Wordpress image rotator and then placed an image over it of that size and set the position so it shows at the forefront. Then you can have a static image show over the image rotator. Hope this helps.
  10. This site has too much going on in my opinion and that will not bode well for the search engines. Here's some food for thought: - You don't have a H1 tags on any pages. This is just murdering your site. - The site URL's should be modified and SEF - On the splash page the "Enter Site" text is not too easy to see. A splash page will reduce conversions massively. With a hard to find door handle to the main site that conversion rate will drop a lot more. - The site is page flow is 100% on most pages. This is nice. - Internal links are under 50 per page. This is good as well. - U thought about maybe removing the background image by the way? I tried it in black and if looked a lot simpler to navigate around.
  11. I wrote a article about link building software. Have a look and see my thoughts. http://www.media-street.co.uk/our-blog/2010/03/28/26-manage-your-link-building-and-search-engine-rankings Hope this helps.
  12. Thanks for the feedback @barsa
  13. Morning, Just a quick one. Anyone have any thoughts of http://www.southviewlodges.co.uk/ ? The site is just being completed and relevant content added but what do you lot think? Thanks in advance,
  14. Just a quick one. I'll have a proper look at the website later but keep in mind that you've got far to many internal links on ALL your site's pages. Although Google will be able to deal with it. Perhaps cut down the amount of links so Google can quickly see which pages are important and index more effectively. In an ideal world have a maximum of 40 links per page.
  15. Hi people, What do you lot think of http://www.taylormadedriving.co.uk/ ? I'm just finishing it and tweaking it for the end user. Did anyone have a thoughts or suggestions? Thank you
  16. Thanks for the reply. Yeah I understand what your saying about navigation and I thought it was relatively straightforward as well. But normally what I think is straightforward and simple isn't to others when it comes to online experiences. I guess the best thing to do it to ask a set of none IT people to look at it and see what they prefer: 1) Transparent nav etc. 2) Solid color nav etc. Hope this helps and best of luck!
  17. haha, yeah completely different company. Thanks for the feedback, I agree with all those points. That error with the Nav is active on IE8. Also the log-in at the top is 'clunky'. As for the modules in the main content page. Yes I'll have a think about that. What about the Flight Voucher's page though? I think it's a bit hideous. Your thoughts? Also what do you think about the Twitter and Facebook icons in the footer. Too dark? Too ugly? Looking forward to your response and thanks for all your help.
  18. Thanks for that Torrix. I don't think that it'd be suitable but thanks for suggestion. I think that the image above is maybe to "Full on" and might distract people from reading the text below or focusing on anything else. I'm happy having "Buy now" etc. sticking out but I want the header to be just there and not be prominent. Hope this makes sense and thanks for taking time out to help.
  19. Yep, as always I agree with @notbanksy. It's really nice and easy to navigate which is good but I'd maybe do the following: 1) Move text and header to the left. Place the flowers to the right. 2) Add a .fav icon 3) Try blue color scheme instead of red. 4) Add a sitemap for the search engines.
  20. Hi there, Nice design! I think it's probably not suitable really for the market and the customers you'd want to attract but for a web designer it's very nice site and no doubt other webdesigners etc. will like it. Sorry if that seems harsh, just I know most of my customers state that their existing hosts / design companies etc. have sites similar which they can never navigate round or understand. Another little thing... the amount of scripts in the header area are quite high. If you can combine any I'd recommend it. SEO wise it's slowing everything down with page speeds and Google won't like this. Hope this helps.
  21. Hi there, This site was released back in December but we're always updating it etc. so I thought I'd just see whether any web designers had any thoughts / ideas reference the site. Feedback is much appreciated. http://www.southwestballoonflights.co.uk/ Thanks in advance,
  22. Where will this logo be used exactly. Web, Yellow Pages, Leaflets, Brochures, Luxury Magazines, Free working class Magazine etc. etc. I know that probably doesn't answer your question but I would say it needs color if you aim for the top end of the market and intend on using it on websites and glossy literature however if you're just going to be in small local magazines and don't purchase large expensive advertisement space then probably what you have is fine. I would have thought that a majority of people needing a carpenter probably focus more on the cost, and how long till they can start the job, making those the deciding factors. In reality I would have guessed keeping it basic and straightforward is the best move.
  23. Hey there. I use Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Photoshop. Yes to some it probably seems very basic. But apart from Flash, what can't I create or edit easily and quickly? @BlueDreamer is absolutely correct with what he says about Fireworks being a web development tool. I always think how historic it is but for web design and creating vectors it works incredibly simple and effective. Also Dreamweaver isn't a bad little program at all. In code mode it color patterns it, making it easy to understand and it also auto suggests code for you which is very useful if you can't always remember every single CSS, PHP or HTML code snippet. Hope this helps and regardless of what happens I feel saddened about your situation. Can't be easy.
  24. Congrats Ben. I went from PR1 to PR4!!! Whoop whoop
