You might be looking for an auto responder. These are usually used to send out and track emails campaigns automatically for online website marketing. The one that I use is for joomla based CMS websites but I do no that there are plenty out there a bit of searching and you can probably find one for about £40. They work a bit like a news-letter system and will send out to your mailing list either as you create the message or on a timing delay. They will also personalise the email to the recipient. This might be what you are looking for.

I remember reading (and this could be out of date information) that the majority of .com addresses for Europe are held in Germany. Google used to discount these as UK based companies. when i first started doing this I checked with my domain name supply that they hosted .co.uk and .com in the UK. I did find some companies that had .co.uk in the UK but there .com where Germany. On this basis (if it is still relevant) .co.uk would be your best bet especially as it's not an international company.

You would be better off judging the exposure by knowing your camera and how it tends to read bounced light. If you think that the exposure is going to be out, over or under expose it accordingly. the problem with hand held light meters even proper photographic ones is the time it takes to go over to the subject take a reading and get back. On exterior photography especially in Britain light changes very rapidly altering the settings.

I love the way you can have it as an I phone app. I wonder if it will send messages out to every one for you telling them of your latest conquest.....

It a nice clean and simple website and best of all it does not distract from the photographs. Which as a fellow photographer I would have to say are very good in them selves. I would be tempted in wildlife photography to key pharse towards calendar, wildlife, freelance, location - specific targets. I would imagine that you probably get the majority of purchases as stock images. In you gallery can you alt text the images and add captions to help with SEO? it should really help you out. I would also change page titles etc to use your keywords Google will appreciate it.

Whats been said is correct. jpeg = photos png = logos or anything with that needs transparency. GIF = REDUNDANT - The vast majority of people in the western would who are on the net have passed 56k lines and are on broadband so aviod the poor image quality of gif altogether. jpeg is a large file format and if you are a photogrpher can be massive. For the web just remember save it to the size you are going to use at 72 dpi. If you have photoshop then use the save for web to optimise the file size with out losing noticeable quality at 72dpi this will reduce file size 80%. nb. mobile media can still be funny with .png files

Unfortunately illustrator is not overly keen on png files. It is far easier to quickly open photoshop. create a new document to the 300dpi dimensions you require and copy paste the illustrator artwork directly in. Photoshop will pick it up as a vector and call it 'smart object'. Resize it to the page whilst it is a smart object using the edit>transform command. Now just make sure the background is not visible and then save as usual or use the .png settings in the save for web option. happy playing Gavin

The text menu on the left of the graphic design is also part of the animation. I would have created this by drawing the layers out in photoshop e.g car - seals layer - window glass etc.. so that all the items that relate to the menu are on separate layers. Save this as a PSD. Open the file in flash (action script 2) and import the entire file to stage. This will assign each PSD layer to a flash timeline layer Next you will need to import the menu or create it in flash directly. Make sure that each menu item is a separate layer. Convert eash menu item to a button using the 'convert to symbol' option and selecting button. On the time line place put a key frame at about 300frames for the main illustration (car itself) Along the time line place the individual elements (seals etc) giving them a few frame each make sure they don't overlap on the time line. Set a 'stop' action at the begin of the time line select a menu button and set the 'goto and play' action to the relevant frame number repeat this process for every menu item linking it to the part of the time line that displays the required feature. JOB Done If you want the flashing effect the easiest way is to convert each product feature to a movie clip. Once converted double click each clip to edit that movie sequence. Add some frames and put a key frame in every few frames and delete the contents on every alternate keyframe. There are other ways but you will need some more prior knowledge of flash to use them efficiently I hope that this has been of help - It has reminded me to show some of my flash work on my own website for clients. regards Gavin

From what you have said I would think that you are on the way to creating a process your self. As mentioned previously direct importing is not great due to its table construct. As an exercise and a learning experience it may be worthwhile doing a direct table implementation and then work over the Dreamweaver design converting it to css and DIV tags.

A web site template that you have created may have a particular specification. For example Headaer center 100px high, lefrt modules and right module column etc... Reusing the basic template to get the web design layout you want is fine. Lats face 99% of web site on the web follow the same basic structure header/body/columns and footers it's only really the dimensions, functions and graphics contained within that alter between sites. My point is why reinvent the wheel. I would just create 5 variations of common layouts, draw the clients a bespoke design in photoshop and modify the graphics and dimensions to suit. that way you can afford to be £500 and not £1500.

Ok so the sample you sent are trying to create a mottled organic paper effect to go with their eco site. If you want to design this in photoshop follow this; CREATING A MOTTLED ECO WEB BACKGROUND CS3 1. fiil the backgorund layer to the colour your require. 2. You can use the cloude effect but it will look to uniform and not organic enough - so - click the paint brush on the tool bar. go to yhe tool option bar (runs across the window below the menu bar) 3. click where it says 'brush:' this will open an option box click the little arrow on the right select 'wet media brushes' > 'oil meduim brush' or go to 'think heavy brushes' and choose one of them. 4. set a darker version of your background colour and start blobbing it on the page. Related Tips - there are a lot of brush control option 'window>brushes' where you can modify the way the brush works. also keep an eye on your brush size and opacity on the tool option bar. - If you blobs are looking on the large side select them using the retangular marque tool press ctrl+t and drag to resize. - rather than a large pic as background, keep file size reduced by selecting an area featering the edge (select>modify>feater) save the selection as a .png (mottled layer only - no background). use css to colour background and reapeat the png file over the top. On the site you showed us they have some addtional transparent elements that are css background layersbehind other images. you should be able to use the above processs and adapt it to do this aswell.. you may need to add a filter>gaussian blur. hope that this was of help regards Gavin
