Thanks bb_matt, There will be a few of these style types so your advice is golden! I have been building up to learning this for a while as I spotted some of this ul/li stuff recently and only really used it for navigation bars. I will use this project I'm on with for experimenting with your advice as this would seriously cut down some of the workload that I associate with coding at the minute lol. The client is quite laid back so that helps

    Thanks mantis :)Well this is what I have so far (10 minutes of so of messing about), I think i've cracked it without messing around with images. Just wonder if there is a way to clean this CSS up a bit lol. <html> <head> <style type="text/css"> body{ background-color:#0093b3; } p.one { background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.2); border:1px solid rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.5); height:90px; width:190px; margin:auto; padding:5px; font-family:Georgia, "Times New Roman", Times, serif; font-size:20px; color:#FFF; } #outer-border { padding-top:1px; width:204px; height:103px; border:1px solid rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.8 ); } </style> </head> <body> <div id="outer-border"><p class="one">Text will be in here...</p></div> </body> </html>

Hi Guys, Just wondering if this box style is easy to create using css/css3, and if so how is the best way to go about it? Thanks.

Hi Guys, Has anyone ever done this for lightbox2? Had one image as the initial lightbox thumbnail linked to several more in a "group" that are not visible on that page. So basically using just one thumbnail image for a multiple image gallery, rather than several thumbnails linked together? example: (webpage with a thumbnail on it)<----linked to---->(image-1)(image-2)(image-3) etc etc
  6. Thanks for the help guys both of those are pretty helpful links lol Right im starting to get there i think here
  7. I have never used <ul><or <li> before. how would I go about doing this?
  8. Hi Guys, I am making a website (here) there is a navigation bar at the top of the design. My client is telling me that on their Apple Mac the navigation links are vertically coming down the page. I have checked in browser shots but its showing all safari browsers having no trouble at all. Can anybody see something wrong on their computers? Thanks guys p.s. i own a windows computer so i cannot tell.
  9. hi guys, I have been bashing my head on the wall over this, so I desperately need help. I have a box on a website I'm creating that is designed to literally just open a box on the right hand side if one of the 8 links on the left hand side is clicked on, thus giving information about 'windows and doors' or various other links in that box. All I want is for a user to click on one of the links and the page refreshes with the new content in the box on the right hand side without the page having to scroll back up again. I have tried the whole 'return false' nonsense and only succeeded in the link being able to be clicked on without it scrolling up but the link doesn't lead to anything. What is going on? thanks
  10. Hi guys, I have a contact form that works. and I just want to add a check box which is titled "check this box if you wish to subscribe to our newsletter" How do i go about adding it in so that it works etc? Heres my php <?php if(isset($_POST['submit'])) { $name = $_POST['name']; $tel = $_POST['tel']; $email = $_POST['email']; $request = $_POST['request']; $to = 'aaron@ko-graphics.co.uk'; $subject = "The following e-mail was sent from the Smiley Dayz website."; $message = "<style type=\"text/css\">"; $message .= "BODY { font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px"; $message .= "</style>"; $message .= "The following e-mail was sent from the Smiley Dayz website.<br /><br />"; $message .= "<strong>Name:</strong> $name <br />"; $message .= "<strong>Tel:</strong> $tel <br />"; $message .= "<strong>E-mail:</strong> $email <br />"; $message .= "<strong>Request Details:</strong> $request"; $headers = "MIME-Version: 1.0" . "\r\n"; $headers .= "Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" . "\r\n"; $headers .= "From: [name] $name" . "\r\n"; mail($to, $subject, $message, $headers); header("location:contact.php"); } ?> and here is my html <div id="contact-format"> <form id="form2" name="form2" method="post" action=""><table width="302" border="0"> <tr> <td width="96">Name:</td> <td width="196"> <input type="text" name="name" id="name" /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td>Tel:</td> <td><input type="text" name="tel" id="tel" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td>E-mail</td> <td><input type="text" name="email" id="email" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Request Details</td> <td> <textarea name="request" cols="25" rows="3" id="request"></textarea> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td><input type="submit" name="submit" id="submit" value="Send" /> <br /> <br /></td> </tr> </table> </form> </div> Thanks guys!

  17. Right guys, I've decided that i should create a portfolio website because i dont currently have one apart from myko-graphics site which is currently being updated anyway. This site is going to be clean and modern with only a few pages. Heres the link the little television screens are going to have little flash vid clips that im going to be creating in adobe AE but before i go ahead with this would you let me know what you think of it so far.
  18. Thanks for the response guys I think the biggest reason for being so cheap is because of my limited portfolio. This is a real thorn in the side and much to say a double edged sword like no other. Obviously i need a good portfolio to bring punters in but at the same time i need punters to build a respectable portfolio. I would rather charge next to nothing for building a website for a real company than spend my time building fake sites just for show. But really i just dont know how to fully go about shooting through the "foot in door stage". How much do you charge on an hourly rate madesimplemedia?
  19. I used to do some freelancing then became a car sales executive in order to get some sales experience and have some solid income. I got too much into car sales and pretty much threw it to one side. as much as I enjoy my job I know full well where I want to be so I want to ease into freelancing once again, but this time do it properly! While I was a freelancer I got hardly any work. I really just want some advice so I can get a few websites to make for small companies. I'm only going to be charging about a hundred odd pounds for your usual 5 page sites. Is this OK or am I destined to make websites for free for a short while? thanks guys
  20. http://cssremix.com/visit/jeroen-homan/ pretty awesome, thanks for your help buddy

'knock' 'knock' "Whose there?" "I Smell up..." "I smell up who?" "really? Go and have a bath then you disgusting, unhygienic, non-door opening stench factory."
  24. if ive been working on something thats really bugging my mind to sort i tend to start talking in code to my girlfriend. She says its sweet...but i wont fall for her trickery! <div id="girlfriend"><img src="img/wants-hugs.png /> <div class="text">I love you Laura. </div> </div>
  25. I had a netbook for a netbook for a short while and put Photoshop on that to do photography work when i was at 6th form. Believe me, its not worth it. Everything is squashed onto a tiny screen and if anything it made my deteriorating eyesight even worse lol
