  1. Hey, I've been working on a new gaming layout for the past week or so and would like to get some feedback on it. here's the main page design: and the splashpage I designed can be seen at: www.unitedgamersociety.com Both are different styles, so any comments suggestions on either would be appreciated - Griffin
  2. Ah ok, yeah you seem to have taken a bit more complicated path than I would have. What you could do is get rid of those side things all together, then in your psd take a 1px high slice of the website that includes the gray gradients on the side, adjust the main content container's width to match the width of this slice, then set the background of that container to the image you just made and have it expand downward...then as content is filled it's forced to expand down with it.
  3. I may not be understanding something you're trying to do here but shouldnt you just be able to type something like: html { background-color:#d2d2d2; } and then all the extra white space would be filled?
  4. Hello there, I've recently gotten back into designing templates and would like information on pricing that's got me a bit confused. When I go around to some of the larger template sites (templatemonster) I normally see a "Regular" price for a template, which usually seems to be less than $100, and then a unique price...which can be over a $1000. Now are the extremely high unique prices just a market ploy to keep people buying the cheaper version and hoping that pays off? I ask because i've recently completed a template I would like to put up for sale, it's 3 pages (1 home, 2 sub) each coded in validated xhtml/css....now I think this is worth more than $100, but I can't honestly see someone forking out a figure like $1200 for it, so i'm just curious where these numbers come from. Thanks for the help
  5. I tried looking through your css files but that was kind of painfull. Can you paste the css that has the background in it so we can look at it? If it's as simple as it looks all you have to do is define the background for the html element in your css file... but the structure of your site is quite different from how I code so I could be wrong.
  6. Very nice job. Now you just gotta get the word out. Oh, and just another idea to throw out there, perhaps allow a small personal portfolio on the freelancer's profile page, or something like "Latest work". Otherwise...well done
  7. Oh Im living that comic at the moment. Just recently setup a universal remote for my family's tv after the old one died and then got nagged at because selecting the "tv" button to turn off the tv was too complicated. I'm also summoned back whenever computers begin to slow down only to find a million random programs installed and a browser that's become primarily a mass of toolbars.
  8. I've been using Photoshop CS for years (yet to upgrade to the newer version) and good'ol notepad for coding I have used Dreamweaver in the past, and it is a nice tool for keeping track of your code aslong as you don't rely on it to generate code for you.
  9. I like the concept...but a few things to look at: - Make the text easier to read - The pink you used looks a bit washed out - Might try using a bit less drop shadow on the title text
  10. Merry Christmas everyone
  11. Well I guess spam opinions are better than nothing heh.
  12. Another large tutorial site to check out is www.Pixel2Life.com that's where I got my start...they've got tutorials for any design program you'll ever need.
  13. Thanks and i'll get on that.
  14. Hello, I had taken a break from webdesign for about a year and have recently got back into it, with the hopes of doing freelance work, and I decided to see what I could whip up... So here's a webtemplate I put together, I know some stuff could use some work, the logo is just a quick placeholder I decided to throw in. But yeah, any comments/criticisms/suggestions would be greatly appreciated Thanks - Griffin
  15. Thanks There's alot of good info on this site, Im enjoying my stroll through it
