  1. I have a Compaq Mini 700 which I love but I have Windows 7...
  2. Rightmove or any large site would have a big beast behind it. Not just the code that puts the site together but also the server environments. Right move has API's, I would assume clustered database server, load balanced etc. A simpler directory adopting some basic features wouldn't be too hard to make.
  3. Joomla is great fun to work with . We support a lot of Joomla sites if you need any further help.
  4. At this stage I would be thinking about what message you want to deliver with a rebrand. With that we would want to work towards a design that delivers that message. Branding is so much more then looking good but standing out in peoples minds in terms of them understanding whats unique about you and remembering your name.
  5. We factor the average cost of meetings, acquisition etc into the quote. Phone calls, emails and chats we don't charge for. We try not to charge for small jobs but most our clients pay for maintenance.
  6. I personally use JW FLV Player. You need to create a flv format video from your source. I do prefer it compared to youtube as I like to have everything hosted on site. No recommended videos at the end of the youtube video to lose your browsers to.
  7. Yeah always best to use ascii codes for non standard characters. Often is a character set issue.
  8. Welcome, I'm sure your have fun around here.
  9. I personally would make sure at least one uk aspect is kept. Either a UK domain of a US ip or non UK domain on a UK ip.
  10. We have been having this conversation in the office today. Haven't quite found anything quite suitable enough for us. Be interesting to watch this thread.
  11. As everyone has mentioned. There is no way to block users downloading images but you can deter the non techy users. BlueDreamer post covers a few point I wouldn't of thought about at first.
  12. Despite looking a few times in the past I have not found a lucritive secondary income source online. Anyone else?
  13. Is it a friend or do you need to keep a professional image? If a friend I would say split it over a few sessions at the pub. We once met a client at the pub (there idea), I thought it be a great excuse for a drink but only I ended up with one while everyone else had squash.
  14. Hey, welcome the forums!
  15. Welcome the the forums Fletcher. What uni do/did you go to?

  17. I'm guessing the item is quite heavy? Like BlueDreamer said, contact as many courier companies as you can. I would say contact shipping agents as well, as they deal with large volumes they get cheap deals and pass some savings along.
  18. For me as well these points are spot on.
  19. Welcome to the forums! Learning on the job as such is the best way and theres always more to learn. I would just say when you take new projects make sure the requirements aren't to far out of your comfort zone.
  20. Do you have a budget? A lot of serviced offices rent rooms to non occupants.
  21. Optimal payments are good to work with. I would say a higher volume trader should look at there banks merchant offering. Often they have a high setup charge but rates are good. Protx is a good solid gateway to use.
  22. You could always use opendns as your primary then your ISP as a secondary.
  23. I would say get one unless your 100% confident. I do my own self employed returns then currently leave the company returns for an accountant, although I do manage the books. Its worth noting that for book keeping a book keep is over half the cost of an accountant. You can save you a small fortune over the long run. An accountant could end up being worth more then there cost if they find enough tax savings that you haven't idenified.
  24. Yeah thats opendns. I use them as default on the internal network and the servers. Really outstanding service. Useful if you change the nameservers and you want a quick propagation for your self. Just go to there website and update the cache.
