Can Any one tell me about Joomla?

 

Where do I start? How?

 

I was trying to find some answers on the internet, but couldn't find any.

 

I want to make my own design and make it work through Joomla, is it possible?

Joomla is great fun to work with . We support a lot of Joomla sites if you need any further help.

I currently use Joomla and am thinking about switching to xhmtl. It is way too hard to design a website in joomla. I tried getting a someone to design it and if proved a headache for them :-(

Ive used Mambo in the past, a branch from Joomla. Designing your own theme/templates can be a real pain, for sure. I found http://psd2cssonline.com/ to be some what useful in the past. If you have photoshop, psd2cssonline converts your psd file to a joomla 1.5 template.

 

I've not used the Joomla side of it, but i've heard it's a pretty good website.

 

Apart from that there is several Joomla sites laying around, some quite good information about developing an already made template to suit your needs. Keep digging, i'm sure you'll find what your looking for.

Thanks very much for this. It is very useful. I am thinking of changing from CMS tho because I realised that i do not really need it. My clients log into a billing site (not joomla related) they also log into their hosting account (which is not joomla related either) Whats d sense? Its best I go for a xhtml coded website and simply link it all together. I actually wanted the joomla cms to change banners which would display a code to enter for savings. I guess I can do that will xhtml.

Before you consider developing a site in Joomla I strongly recommend looking at WordPress. Although considered a blogging app - it's really a full blown CMS.

 

We spent a couple of months testing Joomla, checking out the plugins etc. Where it really lost it's appeal was due to the lack of quality plug-ins, complicated templating and the uncertainty at the time regarding the future of Joomla - there was talk in the community of Joomla splitting up in two two branches.

WordPress is definitely easier to use then Joomla. I hated the way you couldnt just delete everything off it straight away and then added what you wanted instead of having loads of Joomla links which you cant seem to find when you try and delete them. Its hard to work your way around it but you just need to play with it a bit and then its pretty easy.

 

I found it really confusing at first, but then I played about and just tried some stuff and then I realised what does what and stuff like that. Mine turned out good and I got a nice template and everything, its just not as good as a normal website I could make.
