If you set the height of your header it will stay at that height, it wont stretch with the text.
  2. I know you probably did check this but are you sure it is actually deleting the file? And you missed this off action="thispage.php"
  3. Or you could create a separate page thats only role is to process the result and then redirect back to the forms page.
  4. A bit more detail would be helpful. What do you mean by position?
  5. +/-

You could use css to do something similar to this, but the secondary menu would just appear when you hovered over it rather than when you click on it. You could use AJAX to do it as you click on it. http://css.maxdesign.com.au/listamatic2/horizontal04.htm That site has a huge amount of info about lists, could be what you are after.
  6. $exists_query = sprintf("SELECT * FROM `users` WHERE `username` = '%s' OR `email` = '%s'", mysql_real_escape_string($username), mysql_real_escape_string($email)); Change your query, you cant do it like this, il show you how when i get home, gotta leave office now.
  7. Article submissions, forum signatures and blog comments are by far the best way to get incoming links...Social bookmarking brings in huge traffic but only if you have useful, unique content that people genuinely want to read...Its no good just posting your link everywhere though without the research, its pointless without researching your keywords. Check your key phrases before you start any link building, its often surprising what words people are searching for and have little competition. Goto google keyword tool and start searching, then go to google.com and see how many other sites are using your keywords, you want as little competition as possible.
  8. Keep at it with Joomla, its not to bad and its very popular. Not everybody uses standard CMS, iv created a few custom ones from scratch for various sites, once you get the first one right you can just add onto it with features and stuff. Theres no reason why you can't create a Joomla template in Photoshop.

Just to annoy everybody who is messing on the net at work and has a teeny teeny teeny browser window open so nobody in the office knows what they are up to.
  10. You will have no problem powering it in the uk as long as the socket is on the main ring...If the socket is a spur off another socket then i would make sure that the spur isn't to long or the cable could melt and set fire. Eg if it is in a garage then the sockets are sometimes just spurred from another socket in the house.
  11. I only really use photoshop for the graphics, although you can create the layout and everything. Because of the same reasons mentioned above I would lay the whole page out in photoshop and then hand code it all in dreamweaver, slicing the necessary images out of photoshop...If that makes any sense. Its quite long winded but in my opinion its the best way to do it. Or you could slice it all up in photoshop then save for web then rewrite the code. Either way, like the peeps above said, hand code it all, its much better in the long run and you will actually learn a lot more.
  12. looks great, wish i owned it.
  13. Just override the external style sheet by putting style in the page you want to change it in...Put it after your call to the external sheet.
  14. Hi Mark by the way, Also, i wouldn't count the number of results like that, use mysql_num_rows($result) instead.....The way you have done it gives you the result number and not the number of results. This would explain why its not grabbing the second lot of results.
  15. And you are definitely sending the data to the next pages?
  16. Your container probably isnt big enough #navt { width: 877px; background-image: url(images/TopButtonBox.png); background-repeat: no-repeat; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; } give that a height, the same as your background image.
  17. Google is a beast, across all my sites it sends about 90% of the traffic.
  18. css is a much better design strategy than using tables for layout. Its faster loading and more efficient use of code. You should still use tables for what they were designed for, tabulating data.
  19. yes, lots of back links. Its difficult enough to compete when you can optimize the text, without it, i recon it would extremely difficult to compete.
  20. It will definitely adversely effect the pages optimization. You need content on there. Without content on there you will need to do an extreme amount of off-page optimising that you otherwise wouldn't need to do.
  21. Strictly speaking i would usually send the id number of the record within the url and not the text of what it is, if that makes any sense. Its much faster to retrieve numbers than it is to retrieve text from mysql, especially if you make an index on the id and its easier to check for legit requests on the mysql retrieving page. Just my way of doing things, others might disagree. Ste
  22. Just create a quick file and in it put: <? phpinfo(); ?> Upload it and then open the page in your browser, if php is installed it will give you a big list of all the server settings and php version and stuff.
  23. echo "<a href=\"http://localhost/xampp/sosoldsite/dogfactspage.php\" >". $image ."</a>\t\r"; Try that instead
  24. you know 4 people have asked me that exact same question in the last week, it must be a common problem.
