  1. Not that i would condone this but the easiest way is to buy links, costs vary depending on the sites traffic, niche, geogr etc...and you need to really do your research before you purchase. The right way to do it is to have great content that people want to link to but to be honest I find that most people have average/below average content and need a helping hand. A great way to get one way links is to provide something for other websites, photos, logos, web designs, content....anything that they need and drop your link in there. Getting good links is hard work, if it wasn't then they wouldn't be in demand and so valuable...Have great content and it makes things much much easier. Give me a shout if you need any help with anything and i'l do my best.
  2. The best way to learn is on the job. PHP is a pretty simple language, there isn't really that much to it, its learning how to use the basic blocks to do what you need that takes years...And learning all the inbuilt functions. The good news is that you don't usually need to re-invent the wheel because somebody else has likely written a class that does what you need
  3. haha couldn't have put it better myself
  4. Samus, You are right, it is because the values haven't been posted yet, but the solution of putting the form first won't work because they still haven't been posted. ehsan Just set your variables before you try to use them and your original script will work i recon... $code = 0; $title = 0; $video = 0; something like that.
  5. You shouldn't really extract $_POST, its way to insecure. at least add EXTR_PREFIX_ALL: extract($_POST, EXTR_PREFIX_ALL, 'something');

    What do you mean 'php program'?? You mean a host? Theres two options above
  7. Do it from scratch, it isn't that difficult to build forms. Just make sure you add some security to stop people poking around where they shouldn't be poking around.
  8. Theres lots of different ways of doing this. Are the customers going to be uploading and sharing documents with groups of people....Project teams and things? Or are they just looking at documents that have already been put up there? Are you talking about developing your own site from scratch or are you going to use an off the shelf option? There are lots of off the shelf document control packages, to be honest they all seem to have the same fault in that when you have so many documents it becomes impossible to find anything you need. If you were going to do this from scratch I think it would involve PHP, sessions and some clever table designs. The documents would need to have unique numbers and then reference these numbers in your database design. All categories and privileges of users, which files they can view etc could be stored in the database...You would need to add some kind of security to stop people just loading the docs up but it wouldn't be to difficult to achieve. To go into more detail would require a project brief of some kind.
  9. silly silly eskymo
  10. It also depends how the content is stored on the server.
  11. You have to really look for the form, make it stand out rather than blend in....Its a bit of a fine line between keeping your design looking good and drawing attention to something but as it is at the mo, I knew what I was looking for and still had to hunt a couple seconds. The easiest way to get people to sign up is to give something away free..Something they want, something useful. I realize that this is what you are doing but you don't use the word FREE anywhere. If its free tell them its free. I would also repeat the form somewhere near the bottom, maybe on the sidebar or something, but the first thing is really to make the form stand out a bit. Ste
  12. What does the rest of the code look like around that? Is it in a for loop or something?
  13. do you basically want that image as the background of the page and then your nav, text and footer over the top of it? If thats what you want then you can't really do it how you are trying to do it I don't think. Do you have a sketch how you want the page set out?
  14. maybe by each month isnt the right word, but if you have millions of records you can speed things up considerably by splitting the tables up and calling the relevant table, searching a much smaller dataset. eg if he only wants to call the data from this month then there is no point in searching through months and months of records.
  15. Your best bet is to use a framework, its much quicker and efficient than starting from scratch...look up 960 grid system on google, thats a good starting point. Dreamweaver is good as a text editor and project manager/uploader but like the others said all the WYSIWYG tend to create loads of bloated code that really isn't any good.
