Taxi Website

Hi there,

Great start, however the home page size is 6.6MB which is taking me 16s to load on a 40mb fibre connection, so you'll want to get those images optimised.

  • Resizing the browser some of the images disappear on tablet then reappear on mobile, content needs to be consistent.
  • There are some errors in the browser console which you might want to fix.
  • The space between the page header on testimonials and the content is quite large this might want reducing.
  • There doesn't seem to be consistency across your site in regards to spacing etc.
  • Also most importantly what is the purpose of the website as looking at it I can't really tell, there is no information about your services?

Before you build a website you need to really be clear about what you want to achieve. And once you are sure about the purpose of the website you need to sort out your marketing strategy. And then you can create all your content and calls to action. After all this you can develop the site structure and finally right at the very end you can build the site.

I look at pages like this: http://triviacab.net/take-the-quiz-win-up-to-15-in-gift-certificates/ and have no idea what I'm supposed to do. I got the answers with 3 Google searches so how do I get my gift card? Or this page: http://triviacab.net/home/ What happens if I want picking up in San Ramon and need taking to Brookshire? I looks like I need to find another cab company.

Decide on the purpose of the site, decide on your marketing strategy and then work on the content. The wordpress theme you choose is pretty much irrelevant.

Tyler Moore does things the wrong way round, you should watch his videos once you have done everything else.

I find the testimonials hard to believe. I mean, how much fun can you actually have getting a taxi somewhere?

Overall the content needs a lot of work. There's nothing on there that's hugely beneficial

  • There's no content on the homepage, not a single call to action, or description of the service.
  • Telephone numbers should contain the extension, especially if one of the services includes airport pick-ups.
  • Gift card page isn't required.
  • Airport service and general services page are lacking when they are one of the important parts of the site.
  • "Call Text or Email Let us know the time of day and we'll give the fairest price we can" I honestly can't believe this isn't mentioned somewhere more prominent. It seems like a good opportunity to have a dead simple form that allows you to specify this and have the driver text you a rate. Uber is popular because you can do all of this and more, it reduces the hassle of having to call and risk being overcharged.
  • No mention of hotel collections and drop offs, the same with any popular tourist attractions. Are there any hotels that the driver works with on a regular basis? These are the sort of things that you should consider.
