November 12, 201411 yr What are people's thoughts on posting between a Google+ profile page, and then an associated brand page? I have a client who has both, and they're not sure whether they should be posting to both or not, and if yes, should the content they post be different? My client isn't sure, and quite frankly neither am I! On a similar note, what are people's up to date thoughts on encouraging clients to use Google+? Especially in light of Google recently removing authorship photos and bylines from organic search? A lot of my clients are reluctant to use Google+ as they feel that it is largely US based - unless of course there is SEO benefit to using Google+? I'd be interested to know whether people have experienced first-hand any significant SEO benefit in themselves or clients actively using Google+.
November 12, 201411 yr 1) Both is fine. I assume both pages are on G+? Even so, thats fine. 2) Don't remove any markup structure at all from any website. Just because Google has removed the images and any associated rich snippet from the SERPs, it doesn't mean they have removed authorship completely. To be honest, you should be using as much structured data as possible, that includes highlighting the authors, contributors and publishers of a website. If your clients were posting their for just SEO benefit, then they should just stop (I know you don't say they do, I just wanted to point that out). Likewise with social media channels in general. However, I strongly suggest a social campaign that focuses on each individual social network. G+ is an extremely powerful community and active community beyond US-based SEOs. Even beyond that, there is nothing wrong with community building across seas. but I suspect they were just posting for postings sake, instead of using the network to their full advantage, as many clients do.
November 13, 201411 yr I believe that updating contents or publish posts regularly on Google Plus is going to be a great strategy to bring in brand value. however, i dont have a clear idea about posting the same content on multiple pages in google plus. However, i believe that that since all the links in google plus are nofollowed, its not going to harm you.
November 15, 201411 yr Author Thanks for the responses. A lot of my clients are very successful in their social media efforts across the likes of Facebook and Twitter, however many are struggling to see the benefits of Google+. It's hard not to regularly hear about Facebook and Twitter throughout the media and in general conversation, however you don't often hear about Google+, at least not in comparison to Facebook and Twitter. So my clients naturally question it, and naturally assume that implications for rankings is involved as a reason for using it, given it's a network created by the leading search engine. I definitely agree that clients shouldn't use a social media channel purely for SEO, but when you tell clients to ignore or not approach it with SEO implications in mind, it's hard to see the point of Google+ compared to the likes of Facebook and Twitter. Furthermore almost every client I have has complained at the confusion and complexity of Google+ (and I don't blame them!), in particular with having multiple Google+ pages. Some of my clients for example have a Google+ profile associated to them as an individual, then a brand page, and then a local page! They may all be linked, but it still leaves me wondering whether they should be posting to all three. I think the entire Google+ model, quite frankly, is flawed and confusing. Hence why when you take SEO benefit out of the equation, it makes it very hard to persuade clients as to the benefits of bothering with it at all, if even there is any.
November 17, 201411 yr I prefer to use the brand google page to post new updates regularly and use the profile page foe more personal updates.Brand page should be considered as the first priority.
December 1, 201411 yr post them both. The posting is just helping get the traffics to the website. If the traffics is the key, why not post them both.
December 4, 201411 yr Having friends in Google+ profile is easier than having followers in brand page. Post in brand pages. Create another version of the content and post it is profile page. Cheers! Barry Social Media Marketing Company Miami
