QR code

Featured Replies

Hi. A client has just sent me an image of a QR code that will take people straight to their website requesting I put it on the website.

I admit I have no idea about these codes, but if it is something to send people direct to the website when scanned, what is the point of putting it actually on the site?

Erm, they would normally be used for off-site marketing, like magazines, adverts, stickers etc. Not sure why anybody would want one on a website?

Thanks, that's what I thought but wondered if I totally misunderstood them! I shall explain that to them :)

Hahaha that's a classic, pmsl! *dries eyes*

Ok now I feel silly but I saw it as an easy way for the user to take your site with them via mobile device if they wanted. But to roothosts point, it is mainly for print marketing (business cards, brochures, banners etc.).

Yeah I would love to watch someone try to use the QR code with the phone they are browsing the site with ... In fact I would pay good money to watch it.

"Now billy, all you need to do is take a picture of the QR code on the screen with the camera on the back of the phone..."

*priceless*

QR code fails are everywhere, I love them. Like small QR codes on the underground, the other side of the platform, that you can't scan without actually standing on the track.

I saw one on a beer mat a while ago that went to a localhost site.

And of course, the automatic door QR code.
