June 16, 200818 yr Hey guys, I have a special page on my site (http://tinyurl.com/6hf4es) where I am selling a few domain names. First I wanted to let you all know that they're for sale. Second I wanted your honest opinions on the prices. Some of them I think are better than others. I want to try and get my money's worth but I want to be able to sell them as well. I am willing to take the best offer too. Let me know your honest opinions. Also is there a better way of selling domain names than listing them on your site? Cheers! -Seth
June 16, 200818 yr Personally, I wouldn't touch the top three as they're a .info TLD and currently not worth any effort in developing content for unless you've got a fantastic concept with a healthy budget for marketing. I'm sure .info sites can work very well for some people but they're just not for me at those price. The other two I can't comment on as I don't know what the demand would be as they seem more regionally targeted.
June 16, 200818 yr Author but here's the thing, nothing personal but how did you come across those domain names. They make no sense. Have you sold any? Have you gotten that price? I gave thought to the ones I bought (not saying you didn't) but I don't get the appeal of 2 - 3 letter domains that mean nothing.
June 16, 200818 yr problem is domains can be bought for next to nothing, so unless it is a totally unique one off thing that is very desirable to a lot of people then a domain by itself is worthless. Now think to yourself, why have the domains that you bought a couple of days ago not already snapped up by someone if they are worth $300+. Domains like that are so easily made, clever wording yes they are but easily made up, so without anything behind them there is no point in them, they are not recognised, they do not generate an income as they are, chances are they don't get many hits at the moment, so why would someone want to spend so much on a domain that is just a domain and has nothing behind it, its quite an investment on just a domain name that was registered not even a week ago. I am not saying no one will pay that much, but I am saying don't hold your breath as someone can easily just make up something just as witty and pay a couple of $ for it.
June 16, 200818 yr Author good point I just don't get why people collect them. The only reason why I got those was because they were a buck a piece. Oh well. Feel free to enlighten me!
June 16, 200818 yr In my case, most of the domains were for past projects or for clients that then decided not to use them. You cannot buy 2,3 or in most cases 4 letter top level domains any more but the ones I have are still cheap.
June 17, 200818 yr oh why can't we have 2 3 and 4 letter domains anymore? Because they've all been bought up! http://dyyo.com/analysis_remaining.php
July 3, 200818 yr They have not ALL been bought up, anyhow, the domain names are not too interesting on my part.
July 3, 200818 yr They have not ALL been bought up, anyhow, the domain names are not too interesting on my part. Your right, they haven't all been bought up. I bought a 4 letter domain for a client just a few months ago.
July 13, 200818 yr Author I guess it's figuring out what 4 letter domain you can get since most are taken.
July 17, 200818 yr Hi Seth Now what I'm about to say is based on my huge experience of domain names (absolutely none!) so they're really questions not some kind of smart-bottom remarks... Aren't domain names more valuable if they are in use and have content with high PR, SERPs and traffic for something closely related to the domain name? Are hyphenated domain names better if they're sort of short sentences. e.g. "Gotta-Have-More.info"? Wouldn't the value of something intangible like a domain name only be the price someone's willing to pay? What I mean is if I owned GoldsteinMedia.co.uk most people would offer me nothing, you might offer me $20 to get some trans-atlantic business, but if you moved to the UK then you might want to pay me £2,000! For the kind of domains you're trying to sell people might just find another gimmicky phrase, but if you owned "Philadelphia-Autos.com" or whatever it would appeal to a larger number of businesses? Just thoughts I'm interested in - like I said these are questions not rebukes!
July 17, 200818 yr Author wizely, I completely agree. now that i've gone through it. I agree. I do have a domain that's worth a bit of money. HermesNews.net it's in the Yahoo Directory too as is Goldstein Media. But I don't think I'm selling either anytime soon. haha. -Seth
