March 14, 201412 yr Hello all!!! Please help me to know what exactly is conversion rate optimization? What are its techniques to do and what is its impact on a website. Thanks in advance.
March 14, 201412 yr Not sure if spam after Teodora's post but.... CRO is the process of leverage the traffic coming to your website and ensuring they complete a number of goals or events; sales, sign ups, click a link etc. An extremely effective process, CRO looks at multiple split test, multi variant testing, heatmap, click maps, mouse flows, eye tracking and so on. Integrate colour behaviour, seasonal trends and new campaigns, you can actually use the traffic you have to get more sales. If you have 100 people come to your website and you have a 1% conversion rate, you'll get 1 sale per hundred. To double that number of sales, you'd have to send double the traffic. So you need to get 100 MORE people coming to your website. OR you can up the conversion rate to 2% and you'll get double the sales. Which is more cost effective? Use the traffic you have, don't dream of the traffic you don't
March 14, 201412 yr OK, might be genuine. Makes me wonder why people listing SEO as one of their skills, ask basic questions. Anyway... Not sure if spam after Teodora's post but....
March 14, 201412 yr I think the problem with this line of question is that it can be found quite easily on Google. Whereas forums should really be used for advice and opinions. Good answer by Jason though. This is really true: 'Use the traffic you have, don't dream of the traffic you don't' Edited March 14, 201412 yr by neil0wen
March 20, 201412 yr Thanks jason , but how does one measure it exactly. Do you have any suggestions for tools that may be specifically used?
March 20, 201412 yr Depends entirely on what you determine a conversion would be. Measuring conversions on an e-commerce website will be different to measuring conversions on a service-based website. Ecommerce can be measure through setting up a goal on completion in Google Analytics. Maybe a conversion is someone using your contact form? Set up a goal for that. Maybe it's someone calling your office? Well you can track that using dynamic telephone numbers such as those provided by Infinity etc. I can't just say "Does this, then that and you'll measure it" because each business has a different goal and values that completely different from the next
March 22, 201412 yr CRO is basically a method of using analytics and user feedback to improve the performance of your website or you can say conversion rate optimization is finding why visitors aren’t converting and fixing it.
March 22, 201412 yr Conversion rate optimisation is: 1) Finding out why visitors aren’t converting2) Fixing the problem The end. Although if you listen to some of the CRO software pushers, they'd have you believe it's about testing the size and colours of buttons.... because that pitiful process makes them money, lots of money.
March 22, 201412 yr Being an amateur I never new the process as CRO before now, but I do most of mine in Google Adwords, using the Analytic's facilities to see how things are working out for my businesses. There is loads of useful info in the related help pages with Adwords, and the goal and target setting stuff is really flexible. Plus you have the page comparison tools, alternative page version tools, keyword tools, and loads more. I doubt the facilities are anything like those a pro would use, but they do help me improve my businesses turnovers!
April 4, 201412 yr Ecommerce can be measure through setting up a goal on completion in Google Analytics. Maybe a conversion is someone using your contact form? Set up a goal for that. This is spot on - conversion is not just sales, it's interaction so for example a product details viewed is a good goal to set up as it tracks how many visitors click to find out more about a product. This data can be used to work out why certain products are not converting into sales which then asks the question are the product details correct or is the product price too high. So many times the poor seo community and designers get the blame if sales aren't flowing when it's simply down to a poor product description added by client via cms or an over eager price which stumps the sale.
