Transfer of Site from one hoster to another

Featured Replies

I have recently used a 3rd party to host my website but ended the agreement with them, they have said they sent a disk with all the files required for me but accidentally lost in the post and no backups (yeah right)! I knew they would do something like this so before they transferred the domain I saved all the HTML code off each page of the site and was wondering if this is any use to get it back up live again. I know they used wordpress on fasthosts and I can do the same if this is an option, any thoughts / ideas are greatly appreciated.

Regards

Mike.

If the site was built in Wordpress having a copy of just the HTML is not really going to help, you will need a copy of the files as it's written in PHP, the other important thing which you are missing is the database. The only possible way you could salvage this by trying to recreate the site from just the HTML & CSS (?) you would need to start from a fresh install of Wordpress with the template which was used originally, then it would be a process of applying the HTML changes and styling. IMO your better off starting afresh...
