I'm looking for a simple CMS that doesn't require a database, but allows me to easily insert its contents, into a design i have created. I dont want a CMS that i have to skin, i'd rather import it into a design.

 

I'm currently using 'CMS from Scratch' but am experiencing difficulties with this, therefore i'm searching for a similar CMS. I'd like a fast, simple and easy to use CMS as am new to all of this

you could try Blogotext... it is a french designed cms but an english version is offered

I looked at the website in the previous post and its very good. However, it would be even better if i could download it, and use it on my sever. I don't like the fact that a client would have to go to this website to update their website, its kinda odd and unsafe in my opinion.

I was in the same situation last week as I wanted to slot a CMS into a specific area on a website I designed. I ended up using CuteNews - it did exactly what I wanted

Kentico CMS is be the best solution.... ( we are using in our company and we recommend our clients also to go for kentico). However, if you need any CMS from scratch. U can reply to me and we can provide you a CMS.

What don't you like about cutenews? Surely if you want something really basic it serves it's purpose - especially with regard to ease of set up etc. Any other recommendations?

CuteNews is inherently insecure. I wouldn't let it within 10ft of a web server.

 

There's a flat file equivalent of WordPress called "FlatPress", but having never used it I can't vouch for its quality.

I would like a CMS like Cms from Scratch , as it was easy to use and setup for my client.

 

I have been on opensources looking through the cms portals but I don't know were to start really, Cms made simple stands out but i'm not too sure about how quick it would be to set up. Any other recommendations?

What problems have you had with cmsfromscratch.

 

I have used it and never had a problem. I have heard on certain servers it can through up some errors though.

It worked perfectly for a week! My client edited a page and a folder was created :S, we do not know exactly why, but since then the browse page has an error on. None of the content will show on the browse page but will on the other pages. We have tried back up versions and starting from scratch again but nothing works . But when we put it inside a folder on the server the CMS works perfectly. We cannot find the fault

1) It's a blogging engine, not a full-blown CMS.

2) You can't customise where you put the "powered by Cutenews" statement.

3) It's synonymous with really bad "tween" "web designers".

4) It's annoying.

 

That's 4 reasons right there without even touching on the quality / (in)security of the code...

Fair enough. Well I've got rid of the powered by cutenews statement - the client was more than happy with it (as it did what he originally specified) and he paid pretty well. Not bad for this project then eh?

Cutenews is very insecure though and can get hacked into easily etc.

I would use flatpress, but there is another one I found just recently called Snippet Master which is as simple as putting some code onto a page and that page becomes editable with a WYSIWIG editor.

I used http://www.cmsmadesimple.org about 3 years ago and I thought it was pretty good. Easy to setup, easy to redesign and play about with, good support forums and the most important thing was that the client was not very web savvy and he managed to work with it which was a miracle...the client was my old man!

 

Anyway, it looks as though it's been updated from then so I'll definitely give it another go when the time comes.

Im sorry to bother, but I need desperatly someone to create very simple CMS. All it has to do is to be simply integrated into the HTML code, and than some user-friendly administration (no css in administration needed). It should have a WYSIWYG editor, and, if possible, it should generate pages (I create a new link in the menu, type a name of the new page, and it simply copies the existing page and create a new one). And, please, if someone responds an writes me a PM, please dont name the admin file "admin", but "administration", "contrpanel" or whatever.

+1 vote for CushyCMS here. It sounds exactly what you are looking for... it really is NO fuss whatsoever to implement. If you feel it doesn't go far enough for your needs then I think you need to admit to yourself that you need a "proper" CMS - and thats a whole new ball game!

And does it generate the new pages, or you have to add them manually? If it DOES, is it using "clear" URLsor something like index.php?section=15 etc.?

CushyCMS is based upon another website, therefore if that website was compromised then so would the content on your site. It also looks unprofesional presenting that to the client.

If the Cushy site went down, then only the ability to edit your documents would be affected, as the actual site remains hosted wherever you have it hosted! I daresay where CushyCMS is hosted is no more unreliable than any cheap to medium priced hosting anyway.

 

If the site was compromised/hacked in some way then you are in the same boat as any of the other thousand of CMS systems out there, including some of the bigger ones (see Wordpress). Security issues are some of the main things that plague CMS's in general. My opinion is that you are at no more risk with something like Cushy than you are with Wordpress.

 

As for Cushy looking unprofessional to the client... the admin system can be branded and personalised however you want. Its cheap, its easy and its not a full blown CMS. It does what it does well.
