April 27, 201313 yr Hi all, It's been quite a while since my site has had a proper redesign. I'm keen to hear your feedback on the new design. The site should be responsive, although at this stage I'm not too happy with the nav on very small screens. That is one area I am still trying to decide on the best approach for, so if you have any ideas I'd be be very happy to hear them. http://goo.gl/6zHk6 TIA Darren
April 28, 201313 yr hey darren longtime no see coming to ur site 1.responsiveness looks gud though u can go for some cool responsive nav out there 2. coming to design it looks ok.. but logo can be improved with better typography?that my thought tho 3.also i think there is bit too much text on home page.. tho i agree its gud for seo..but may be u can add some testimonials?? in a separate column? what u think? apart from that gud wrk Edited April 28, 201313 yr by sash_oo7
April 28, 201313 yr the bright red makes it look a bit cheap- a slightly richer shade might give more of an impression of quality, rather than cheap and cheerful line length is too long (adding the testimonials column as mentioned above would help this) needs a little more contrast in places - maybe white text on #333 fgor the nav or something? logo is underwhelming. googlefonts? i think i read you can now just use the letters in a word (e.g. logo) so you don't need to link to the whole character set. request quote button is a bit pale - i would go with a red button - at least on hover it's clean but it looks a bit boring to be honest, needs a little more here and there
April 28, 201313 yr Author Hi Sash, yes it has been a while. I've been floating in and out but haven't posted in a while. Cheers for the feedback guys, i've added some of your suggestions (more contrast) but will leave the text alone for now. It's currently under review with a copywriter so will see how it turns out before making any changes. As for the logo, it was supposed to be showing Harabara, but it seems, at some point I removed the @font-face part of the stylesheet without realising. Doh! Hopefully it looks a bit better now.
May 3, 201313 yr I agree with "sash" that logo can be improved and i liked the Featured Projects above footer it looks awesome.
May 8, 201313 yr Just a few suggestions; personally I'd nudge the logo left slightly so it was aligned with the Home link in the nav bar and push your contact info right a bit so it was aligned with the Contact Us link. The TCCWestYorkshire link doesn't work, perhaps they've changed their domain? A shame as their testimonial in your index slider is pretty good. Maybe try giving the navigation bar <a> tags a white background on hover? The red text against the grey background looks a bit dark in my opinion. Overall though everything you'd look for is there and it's all laid out in a sensible, clean and easy to navigate manner.
May 8, 201313 yr Author Cheers for the feedback Oliver. All very good points and all have been implemented. The red on grey from the navigation was a left over form the previously light nav. I've also fixed the tcc link, was a spelling mistake
May 8, 201313 yr Hi, soldier))))I would advise you to convert textual logo into PNG. Advantages: guaranteed anti aliasing and possibility of preliminary precise manual kerning.
May 8, 201313 yr For me site looks like spam-site =) For small screens make menu buttons width=100%. Grey button is bad. Try black flat color and add spaces
May 8, 201313 yr Cool responisveness, I just think the graphics need a litte more work, though it's pretty tough with css3 to make it look jazzy like using pics and image replacement for the cool graphics.
May 8, 201313 yr Got an error connecting first time; Warning: mysql_connect(): Too many connections in /home/dpb/dpbcreations.com/classes/db/db.php on line 34 Too many connections Auckland based too Re the design; The responsive menu needs some work. Also the logo & social options should be centered on smaller devices IMO, atm it just doesn't look right. Agree re the grey button too, looks clinical. An aside, you an expat in AKL? Or a true blue Kiwi?
May 8, 201313 yr Author I'm an expat in AKL. I'm originally form just outside London, been here 2 years now. You in AKL?
