I'll have a look at this but you can't really compare Open Office to MS Office. Maybe to MS office '97 ha

I used Open Office a while back and I hated it. MS Office is the best office software around, it really is one thing MS knows how to do very well.

 

It's actually very affordable if you go down the SAAS route with Office 365. We pay I think £10 a month per user and each user can install Office Professional Plus 2010 on up to 5 separate devices, which should cover your home computer, work computer, laptop and others. That's £2 a month per device! And, you don't have to pay when a new version comes out, you get it instantly.

 

Frankly don't see how anyone could complain about that.

I too think Microsoft can and do make great products, Office 2010 and Windows 7 are both excellent at what they do.

 

Not sure my experience of Open Office or Libre Office would agree, but then they're both free so you can't expect them to be on par with Bill n' Co.

Microsoft definitely has the best suite out there so far, but there is a lot of room for improvement. That is one market that could really use a product that's accessible, usable and able to replace MS Office in the average business workflow.

It is not standing in comparision to Microsoft anywhere. Still thums up for Microsoft........ May be u feel comfortable with open office

Office may be very over priced (in my opinion however the deal that brightonmike is using sounds good!) but at the end of the day I am paying for a premium product that I know how to use. In my experience I have never found a piece of package software that offers all my word processing and emails as well as office does. Office for Mac is far superior to any apple package (keynote ect.)

The thing with office related software is, is that the software that suits you may not suit someone else. For example, I do own Office for Mac, but I hate its UI and I personally don't use most of its features, so I use iWork (Pages, Numbers and Keynote), as this offers functionality thats useful for me (syncing with my iPad). However on Windows I would go straight to Office every time, for the functionality it offers it really isn't all that expensive, especially when used with Office 365.
