I was pulling my hair out the other week trying to find a cached version of a clients website that had gone down thanks to his previous web developer. I needed to access his old content to put on the new site so I though " google cache !"

 

Low and behold they had removed the link from the search results but after much playing around I managed to find out how to do it.

 

So here's my solution which I thought some of you may find handy. enjoy

So I was trying to find a new client’s old website so I could take a look at their content. Their old website was no longer live but I had a brain wave. “Check Google’s cache” I thought. To my horror when typing in a google search for said website the good old cache link that used to be on google results had disappeared!

“Not to panic” I thought as there must have been a way to search for google’s cache. The next thing I did was google ” How to find cached pages on google” All I found was posts and threads with people moaning about the lack of the link on the results but no solution!

I decided that the feature must be buried in there somewhere and I started typing in random search queries with varations of the word cache with symbols to try and find a search tag that word work. Then eureka ! I stumbled upon the solution which I’m happy to share with the world.

Probably worth noting this is for Google Chrome.

There's another site called Wayback Machine http://archive.org/web/web.php which I haven't used for a long time.

It doesn't have every site or every update of a chosen site, but you may be lucky.

You may also try Caches from Yahoo, Bing, etc using http://viewcached.com. Ironically, I have to try it on your site: http://www.viewcached.com/http://www.tastysnack.co.uk/how-to-search-for-cached-pages-on-google/
