New Forum Software!

Featured Replies

Hello All,

This project is not yet finished but is currently a work in progress and is flying to the finish!

Im currently working on some bulletin board software which i hope to release for free once finished, I will equip the board with all the features you currently see in other bulletin board software and more!

Here are some useful links:

Project (Temp Web) http://www.facesmarty.com

The Software (As Being Built) http://www.facesmarty.com/forum/

If your a member of Facebook you can leave a comment using there nice little pluging which was integrated on the temp website or like it :)

Anyway, Give me some feedback, Try to be kind :p

Looks good so far, biggest issues I've found when running forums are security and stopping spam, so as long as everything at the back end looks as good as the front end then I will look forward to trying it out when it's done

Why not use the Akismet API? Much bigger sample to work from.

Not a bad idea at all :) To be fair I had totally forgot about these guys! :) thanks!

Just had a look and its going to cost money to link to there api, considering this is free software im not sure users will want to pay for additional stuff like this.

Looking good shaun, be interesting to play around with it when it's done.

Thank you :) Not much going on in the front end now as im working on the ACP for features to function correctly on the front end, Its a huge job and as you can see its taken 20 days to get this far.

That's not bad for 20 days - assuming it's all secure! Using the MVC architecture I assume? Is it built on a framework?

Its not under any framework at all, Just a bunch of classes and useful methods, Its secure no doubt, I love coding and building new projects and for code that's already written for me, it takes away the fun side of it all :)

There's advantages and disadvantage's for having a nice framework, I just prefer to do it my way to be fair :)

Edit: There still some room for improvement later on in the project :)

Whatever you've written that could be useful on another project (or that you're reusing from another project) can form the basis for your own framework. Can't argue against the usefulness of frameworks in general, but if you prefer to write your own code, write your own framework.
