sTeeVe - Short introduction

Featured Replies

Hello!

I'm a webdesigner and primarily a student from Hradec Králové in the Czech Republic.

My hobbies are creating websites (psd layouts, graphics, (x)HTML/CSS coding), but I'm not a fanatic IT man! :-)

I really like painting, drawing, history of arts, playing the piano (! - I enjoy it very much - !) and I've got also a dog, beagle.

Some of my works you can see here.

Well, I know that my english isn't very good, but I hope that this forum will help me improve it and get some contacts from the international webdesigner's community.

So, that's all so far.

Have a good time!

Welcome to the forum.

I really like your avatar :) and the work on your site looks really good too. I hope you enjoy your stay here :D

Welcome to the forum STeeVe.

I wouldn't apologise for your English if I was you - it's better than most of the native English speakers on WDF!

Enjoy yourself here.

:hi:

Hi sTeeVe, welcome to the forum.

Your English is great, it's definitely much better than some English people I know!

Thank you all for a very nice invitation.

Well, my avatar. It's possible that you don't know the author of the painting, so I'll write some facts.

If someone is very interested in the history of arts, he should look up the artist "Emil Filla".

He was one of the main representatives of czech surrealism, the others were Toyen and Jindřich Štýrský.

Hi SteeVe

If you're interested in other culture's art forms then your avatar reminds me a lot of the shapes and colours used in Maori art - especially their bone-carvings.

Search for "maori koru" in Google images to see what I mean.

The Koru is the shape of an unfolding fern frond. It's the symbol of new growth, new life, peace and tranquillity, of family love and of new beginnings.

It's also found a lot in greenstone (Pounamu) carvings.

Thought you might find it interesting.

Cheers

Welcome to the forum Steeve :)

I'm sure you will find it a great resource

Wizely, thank you for great tip. I don't know the Maori art well so far, but I remember walking in the Louvre Gallery (Paris) and seeing Australian and Maori culture, but it was when I was searching the Ancient east culture, and I had no idea how to get out from Maori art :-D

No problem! I'm sitting here about 50 metres from a small marae (Maori meeting place) in a Maori village!
