February 20, 201214 yr Hi, I use Dreamweaver CS5 to design/build my sites but have stumbled across an odd problem this evening. It has suddenly stopped showing HTML5 properties. When I preview the site in the browser, it shows exactly as it should, yet inside Dreamweaver itself, NOTHING shows, absolutely nothing. I've even tried adding another section to an existing site built in HTML5 - and it won't show on that either; yet again it displays perfectly on the browser. It might be a simple solution but I can't continue any work until this gets sorted! Please help!!
February 20, 201214 yr In all honesty you shouldn't be using Dreamweaver to preview the sites because it (90% of the time) plain wrong. Strange that this has happened though as mine never showed the HTML5 elements.
February 20, 201214 yr Author So yours never showed HTML5 elements at all? Also, are you saying there is little point using the 'Preview in Browser' section? What is the alternative? - the host?
February 20, 201214 yr It shows perfectly in the browser??, that is all you need. DW preview is unreliable.
February 20, 201214 yr DW preview is unreliable. This. I use DW on a daily basis at work (on WinXP), unfortunately. There's so much it can't deal with, let alone the enormously bloated application itself. Getting home to OS X and Coda is like entering a time portal full of paracetamol - fast, intuitive and painless. I'd strongly recommend using Coda if you have a Mac, or Sublime Text 2 if not. Coda has a built in preview feature which uses Apple's webkit, the most powerful browser engine at the moment (given that Trident is purely around for comedy value and Gecko has become a trailing replica of webkit). I'm not sure about a similar code editor for Windows, but there's bound to be something... PS. Anyone who is interested in trying new(ish) code editors - give Sublime Text 2 a go. It's not bad!
February 21, 201214 yr It shows perfectly in the browser??, that is all you need. DW preview is unreliable. i personally think dreamweaver is wrong on most things lol when i vuild preview sites in dreamweaver sometimes it spaces the images out to much and i cant find a solution to fix the error... Better to use html then upload an preview LIVE on the site i reckon.
February 21, 201214 yr I never use the dreamweaver preview. I just use it for the coding side because im too lazy to type the full code...
