1.6 grand? wow! my first car insurance (this was back in 1990) was about £300.. but then it was a for a rather rubbish 1.3 vauxhall chevette..

Cheers.

That's extremely cheap, I imagine for a 1.1? Make sure you get fully comp!

But yeah honestly mate that's very cheap. I'm 24 in April and mine was £1200 on a Citroen C2.

There's an insurance company out there that does it for young drivers and they fit a box to your car and basically limit your driving, knocks like 40% off the cost. I think they only stop you driving after 10/11pm so unless you're gonna be night driving it's well worth it.

I was 20 when I passed and paid £2000 insurance for a C2 lol :( I'm now up to an Auris SR which is only £1020 so It's steadily dropping!(I'm Now 24)

Congrats on passing! :)

£2000! Stuff that.

I really like the C2, I think it's the best first car. But I'll be honest I'd rather my insurance stayed the same next year and I got something with more power and newer.

I think I'll probably spend double on my next car, probably this time next year.

FCK that! £1.600 for insurance is a rip off man!

You should have your dad/mum as the first driver and put your self as second, it would probably work out cheaper!

Good idea, although £1600 is cheap for a 17 year old. Most get quotes well over £2k.

It is a rip off but that's just how it is these days, can't really avoid it.

Which is illegal.

well done Tom, I remember the time I passed and got to go out on the road by myself.

It was great but I cringe now at some of the daft tricks I did. Hope you are more sensible than I was when I was 17yrs old!

Insurance - I've been driving for 16years and every time I think my insurance is going to go down it never does!

I thought it would go down when I was 25 but it didn't really.

Even now I'm paying £850 a year which was the best quote I could find. To be fair, the car I have now is a 2.5 24v straight 6, so I suppose if I was still 17 the quote would probs be £18,500!
