Only my second post here, but I do visit this forum a lot. I am a very young designer/programmer, 18, I am really into my web design and have been doing over the past 3 months. I am in the middle of creating my portfolio site, and have a few potential clients in line for the future and was wondering as I am only young and rather naive in my young age, how much do you offer standard 3 page websites?

 

what sort of price range and product range do you use?

 

I have skills in using Wordpress, and creating themes to suit the customer, but have no experience with e-commerce. Whats the best way to get to learn that?

Best way to learn, simply just build one! Doesnt have to be for a client, just a mock-up, something to carve your skills.

 

Pricewise....Whats your rent? do you drive? overheads? hours worked? bills? etc etc

 

Each designer has different overheads and costs and as such each designer charges accordingly. It all comes down to how much you would be happy to earn per month/week.

I drive, Car insurance, Phone bills and Internet bills.

As I said before, 18 is a naive age, but I feel as though I will be ready to make the break through after christmas, until then I will continue learning, but I suppose you never stop learning do you?

That is correct, the industry is forever changing, and we have to change with it.

So are talking a couple of hundred for a 3 page imformation site?

Yeah, I wouldn't charge any less than that. Probably around the £300 mark to be honest.

I'm in the same situation I'm 17 and have been studying for the past few months, and will probs make my first site live after christmas, but I wouldn't price your work just because of your age.

 

After christmas you should have a really solid site, post the site on here get some feedback and then do your prices
