Please could you give me your opinions on this logo please.

Is that the actual symbol that you are planning on using or just there as a place holder?

 

If that is the symbol then my advice is to ditch it and create a new one. As at the moment its a little out of place compared to the font colour and type and personally my eye was drawn to that because it is so out of place due to the rest of the logo being big and bold and that being a light pencil sketch. So if you want to use such a bold font and colours change the symbol, or if you like your symbol change the font and colour, that way everything will working together instead of fighting against one another for the viewers attention

I'm doing this for my mum and the font is non negotiable. The logo is one that I found. I have changed it to something a little simpler. But still goes with the overall feel I hope to achieve.

If the font is non negotiable, maybe you could create the hut using the same cross hatching effect that is used within the font, possibly in the came colour that the word card will be in. Speaking of colours are you able to change them because that shade of blue doesn't work with the colour you have used on the word card in both examples.

Uhm...Actually, this is not a logo: no concept, nor original interaction among its elements behind it; it is just some text on a background with an icon of those you can download from the web for free. Please, do not take my criticism as gratuitous: I'm just trying to help you my best. First of all, colours and style: the hut doesn't suit the font and the blue is just out of place. You said you can't change font, which is not helpful: it is not graphical at all (at least, in my opinion). Try to play with different sizes and spacing, to make it less boring, leaving the problem of the icon to a second time.

Because of the name you could easily make this a really witty logo. The hut should be made out of card or should be an image on a card. If it's just what looks like a house then it really isn't doing anything to represent your brand.

If the font is non-negotiable, perhaps you can play around with the size and the spacing. I would make this logo stamp size so it fits right on a greeting card without drawing too much attention away from the rest of the card.

Dont worry about it too much, your overall site look and feel will count, I kind of liked the first one.

 

I would make a bigger hut to break the slogan a bit.
