April 11, 200818 yr Hey guys. I have an interesting client who has an interesting request. She wants her catalog to be able to take a shopping cart. Sounds simple but when the user fills the basket and hits submit, she doesn't want it to go to a pay screen she wants it to email the list they made of what they want and email it to her for her to fulfill. I guess the cart will need to give her the contact info of the user as well. Does anyone know how I can even get started on figuring out how to do this and make it work. Please give me all the suggestions you can. -Seth
April 11, 200818 yr If you're using any of the major carts they should have payment options for COD (Cash on delivery) so I'd imagine you set that up and you're done. Orders are automatically emailed to her by default with most carts and the customer only needs to enter contact info, not payment details.
April 11, 200818 yr Hey Seth, Interesting one, will you require the shopping cart to take money? Or is your store owner looking to take the details and process them offline, as you could do a COD (Cash on Delivery) Pretty much all e-store scripts i've used email the owners a notification of a completed order. Would you mind providing a bit more info so I can assist you further please mate. Ta.

Pretty much what she wants to do is have an availability chart for her perennials and next to the status she wants an add to cart button. This would enable the users to make a shopping list of what they wanted from her. The next thing would to have them go to their cart, enter their contact information and have it emailed off to her as an order. Like a COD because they wouldn't be doing any electronic commerce with credit cards or anything on the site. One of my other concerns is that I don't want to put a huge cart on her site. Her site is already live and running. http://tinyurl.com/68lpkg that's where you can find it. A small cart to gather up a list would be ideal. If you have any ideas on where I could find such a script that I could customize or how I would go about writing one, I'd appriciate it. Thanks guys!
April 11, 200818 yr As Expat said most carts will allow "offline" ordering. All you'd have to do is rename "checkout" to something suitable, that's easily achievable in most carts anyway.
