I heard that ios 5 will be released first followed by the new iPhone..

Either out in time to boost xmas sales or a bump to the new year. I personally think there is still enough money brining in from the iPhone 4 so Id imagine a release date start of 2012

nah, it will come, as will the ipad3 Xmas is too big a market to miss. Especially in the UK where the poor kids are so deprived

as an apple lover myself i can say that until yesterday i did not own an ipad. I still have to wait 4 days for my specced up one to arrive along with my new imac i ordered y.day

Galaxy S2 seems to be the smartphone of the moment, a true iPhone 4 killer. It'll be interesting to see how the iPhone 5 betters the Galaxy, but even more interesting is Samsung will be releasing their next Galaxy pretty soon too.

 

I've shown my Galaxy S2 to a lot of iPhone 4 friends and when they handle the thing and use it for a bit they usually hand it back meekly and look down at their iPhone with disgust!

 

Also interesting is how at the current rates Android market will overtake App Store for number of apps early/mid next year.

 

I honestly think it would have to take something truly incredible from Apple to dent Androids progress.

I can see them announcing the iPhone 5 either at the end of this month or sometime early in October. I expect they'll release iOS 5 on the day of the event and probably start shipping the new phones not long after. I know there's been a few "lost iPhone 5" stories floating around but Apple are running a pretty tight ship at the moment.
