March 20, 200818 yr Does anyone have any experience with running a good/bad email campaign? A client of mine has a large client base, and they have asked me to run a "newsletter" type email on a monthly basis. Rather like this site sends us each month. Ben where are you!? From my rather brief research i have found a few solutions: 1) web based companies (dotmailer for example) who offer a service, at a substantial price! 2) cheap nasty software, thats free to download (hmmm makes me suspicious) Is there anything in-between!? Naturally the concerns are getting my clients domain blacklisted, is this possible from sending 700 emails a month!? Delivery percentage. Any comments?
March 20, 200818 yr Also check out http://www.campaignmonitor.com/ / http://www.mailbuild.com/ if you have a lot of Hotmail/Yahoo/Gmail subscribers! 700 mails a month is enough to get you blacklisted if you send spammy emails or just bulk send in one go! I'd recommend using a mailing system that allows you to batch send your newsletter, this regulates the flow to each server and is helpful with preventing spam filter from triggering. If you want an excellent free newsletter system look at Dadamail, I've been using it for years

March 24, 200818 yr Campaignmonitor is aimed at web designers who do mailshots on behalf of their customers, Mailbuild is a while label mailing system you give to your clients, ie they have their own login and cmpose/send their own mails.
March 25, 200818 yr Author hmmm, this seems to tick all my boxes!! Nail on the head! Thanks very much for the tip, next - to master the art of a good newsletter design....
May 14, 200818 yr Email marketing campaigns can be really effective manner of promoting a web site or a product. The best advantages an email marketing campaign gives you is that it can help you in reaching millions of people through one click.
May 14, 200818 yr I don't know if this is an issue for when you guys run email campaigns for other folks, but the Data Protection Act and the EU Privacy and Electronic Communications Directive are important things to remember when handling email campaigns (I've run hundreds of B2B marketing campaigns for some big companies - using in-house systems so no direct help to you). You need to know about opting-in and opting-out, soft-opt ins and the difference between B2B and B2C regulations if you're going to be designing the content or be responsible for sending the emails. Like I say - I don't know what you're actually responsible for so it might not be relevant, just a thought.
May 14, 200818 yr All very good points wizeley! @OP - You do a lot worse than consulting wizely at some point!
May 16, 200818 yr Email marketing is one of the cheaper ways of marketing a product or a website online. This is the reason that many of the online marketers prefer email marketing over other sources of online marketing.
May 16, 200818 yr All very good points wizeley! @OP - You do a lot worse than consulting wizely at some point! Thanks bluedreamer! Just to add in case other's are responsible for email campaigns and this is relevant - don't forget the Email Preference Service - even if it doesn't generate a complaint, emailing someone on the list won't get you anywhere!

I've set up Dojo Mail (Quite easy to use once it's set up, and free!) for my client and send out emails for them to 700+ people using it. A lot were addresses already possessed by the client, but I've been using double opt-in sign ups for all since.
