Cats Social Networking Website

Featured Replies

I have made a lot of different websites over the years but I think this one really is one of my best.

kittycatspace.com

I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas of how to expand it. Make it better. Tell me what you think!

Comic sans? That's a bit last century :)

There's no real flow to the content, no separators or the like. The lack of structure makes me get lost in the content.

The site could use a couple of more of well executed design elements not to talk about typography, spacing and padding.

its ok but the design is very dated, it does look too much like its been created entirely with one of those tacky web-based WYSIWYG editors. Hence the code is poor.

The logo just doesnt fit in with the design.

however i think it has potential, theres a good layout, its a nice enough idea, i like the pin up features too. just needs a lot of work!

Personally, I think there is too much to distract the eye. I like the pawprints down the sides but it has a tendency to draw your eyes away from the titles. How about trying to main site title in a Georgia font? And the description at the top in Georgia?

The cat in the header, I would change for a different color, I only say this as the giner coloration fades into the site color and you need a picture to stand out. Maybe something like this;

images.kittenads.co. uk/ newcat. jpg

The menu bar, maybe make it a darker color, say charcoal.

I like the post-it notes, could they be moved to the right hand side, listed underneath eachother? The 'how well do you know your cat?' section, I would be tempted to take it off the home page and place it on the other.

Hope this helps x

Although I hate to say it - this is one of those very rare examples where it "almost" fits - it being a cat site with that kind of Icanhascheezeburger type of quirky cuteness to it. You're probably right though.

I think you should curl up the corners of the post it notes a bit more, stretch the shadows accordingly and tidy them up a bit (the shadows are currently a bit lumpy).

Also - the paw prints in the background , fade the opacity on them so they are less in yer face. Not sure about the puce-ey colour for the background either.

For the photo gallery - implement a photo gallery framework (jquery, flash etc.) to pretty this up a bit.

It's a cute site!

Could you recommend a good photo gallery framework (jquery, flash etc.) for my gallerys

To be honest? Not really - I haven't used the jquery ones yet having always written my own thumbnail stuff. If you look at "Gallerific" for example that's the kind of thing I'm talking about. I think I used once Slideshowpro director (Flash) but don't think that'd be as suitable - it's alright, nothing particularly special I thought.

I'll leave it up to someone else who's more familiar with the jquery thumbnail stuff to make a proper recommendation to you. There's lots of them to choose from.

1. too many cat paws in background.

2. i think you should re think about the fonts

3.and the menu bar also

4.the color of menu bar dont goes with the site

5. re consider the banner.

6.use a color scheme
