Yet another "How much should I charge" thread
As above, if they are entered from a spreadsheet, then all that leaves is the manual processing of the images However, if it all has to be entered in manually, complete 10 yourself and time it Multiply this by somewhere between 100 and 110 You may speed up, but it is the boredom factor Equally, you can only perform so many then need a break (which the client should also pay for hence the 10% additional cost) Also, supply this as an estimate only, not a quote, if this is a one-off project Advise the client that the actual cost may vary, if it takes less time than expected it will be cheaper, but it may take longer and will be more expensive, and on completion a full timesheet is available if required

Domain name similar to Brand Name
I would suggest you place a disclaimer that : the website is not associated with, nor should be confused with Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A Equally, I would place a URL removed and content exclusion in your google AdSense adverts to *lamborghini* and that way anything with this word will not appear

Simple download script and restriction
I am looking for a simple solution to allow visitors to download files, but not access them directly In other words, if any one posts the direct link to the file, they end up back at the download page (or unathourised page, which will then have a link/redirect to the download page) At the moment the setup is : downloads.html /downloads/ -> contains all the downloads in formats : gif jpg xls pdf There is no need for signup/registration The main reason is the filenames will change frequently, roughly every six months when they issue new version (as required by the copyright owners) edit : Something that works in the same way as DOCman for Joomla

Website indexed, but not found in any searches
We didn't write any of this code (the original copy goes back to 2006) It was supplied directly by the client, and they asked us to upload it to their (hosting) account This is their second website When they did this with their first website we pointed out the issues, but weren't interested in paying anything towards us correcting this issue from the files they supplied us with This second request was simply to copy the existing website, amend the text, some images, and upload We then gave them two quotes, the first exactly as they had instructed as above and a second to include a complete re-write of the source code Instead they returned that they could only afford 75% of the first quote, so we only executed the basics The actual issue is as originally posted, relevant searches were initially returning "nil" results for several weeks after it had already been confirmed the website had indeed been indexed I've compared another new website created yesterday afternoon, and it can already be found using relevant searches and the google tool returns "18 keywords found - position 18/100 appears on pages 3/5 of first 10" When I was performing the above on the website in question all I was getting was "Nil"

Website indexed, but not found in any searches
Customers pay separately for that, this customer has made it clear he doesn't want this The SEO package is quite complex and requires subscription, but that is a different issue As above, I've not had any problems finding newly created websites within a few hours of uploading Many customers have commented on this, hence my original concern with this specific website

Website indexed, but not found in any searches
As above, I know that, passed these details to client, but they advised me they would not be interested in this I've discussed this with them before, so didn't take it any further this time

Website indexed, but not found in any searches
No, usually the website can be found within a few hours; not even any need to make any submissions to search engines As above, I suspect a negative score was initially given for duplication Even a website I created yesterday is already appearing for generic / relevant searches

Website indexed, but not found in any searches
It wasn't even doing that this morning It looks like the search engines have woken up within the last few hours as other terms are now working Search terms which I tested last month (and even just last week) are now working I've never seen this before...

Website indexed, but not found in any searches
I've explained all this to the client I created them a sample website (which took into account all of the above) Their instruction was VERY clear, so that is why they have ended up with the website as it is now Yes, on very narrow and specific searches, but as we all know, this is not how people in the real world will search for such a service I did ask the client to supply further details of the services they offer, but all I was supplied with was the text (as it now appears) I also asked for marketing details, but this has never been forthcoming; not even a price on what they charge I tend to agree, this is a very specialist and over-supplied market This is very clear from the google AdWords campaign they operate, where the keywords command a minimum of £1.00

Website indexed, but not found in any searches
As above, the client didn't want to pay for SEO, so it wasn't provided... However there is a sitemap (file) which was created from within google Webmaster The content was simply created from the text they supplied I explained all this to the client, but all I get is "Do it, but I'm not paying for it" I've also sent them a contract but nothing has come back

Website indexed, but not found in any searches
They're not duplicate content, they are duplicates of the same original design (at the clients request) The client has not paid for SEO so none (apart from the basics) has been applied However I have created about a dozen or so new websites this year and all appeared within a few hours of creation within most search engines It's not even a poor ranking, it's just not there at all! I've used googles own tool and it returns "Nil"; I've never had this before I've explained all about backlinks, etc., to the client, but they basically refuse to do any of this However their original website had the same issue, but is found very easily on relevant searches, even with just the two backlinks that do exist!

Any ideas why
Slow is an understatement, it took nearly 3 minutes to fully load on my local connection (8mbps) I have to agree, there is no need for this website to be using Zen Cart Looks like the provider has simply used this as standard to save time, effort, money I was unable to find a reason why this website is so slow to load External checks returned 5 seconds, but my experience was no where near this However I did note that some images were linked from (example) : http://bhushan.dev.webcreationuk.com/wc_1774/dev/images/limo_website_3.jpg rather than your own Domain Name (relative link)

Website indexed, but not found in any searches
I've executed a clients request, exactly as they required This was to duplicate an existing website (they already own), on a new Domain Name, trading name, and different services pristinepressurecleaning.co.uk This was completed in early April 2012 and performing site:pristinepressurecleaning.co.uk confirms the website is indexed, plus any changes can be seen the following day However, I performed some very basic searches and used third party search engine keyword checking, but nothing is returned for this website (no results in 100 pages) I am at a loss on this one as the website this is taken from performs very well (relevant searches usually return page 1 and always in the first 3) Any diagnosis on this welcome (specifically the reasons)

Hosting & Payments?
I am surprised you have not discussed directly with your Business Bank account provider There are normally no restrictions on setting this up, unless you have been trading for more than 12 months and have a seriously low turnover There is normally a setup fee for the Originators Code, which allows monies to transfer between your clients bank account and yours There will then be a monthly fee and a transaction fee However, as above, you will need to find out from your bank what their arrangements are My business bank account is with Bank Of Scotland As I use their online service there was no setup fee, as this was included when the account was first setup (first year free), but it would normally be £75 Each Direct Debit costs £4.50 to setup then 9.8p

Membership gallery website
I have started work on a project at the request of some people I know (and having conducted the market research there clearly is demand, due to the main competitor going offline in February and into administration last month) The concept is to offer image hosting The first service will be paid-for, but will eventually be free supported by advertising I setup a test gallery using Coppermine Gallery which looks, from a users point of view, to meet my requirements The members websites will take the format username.website.name However username websites do not appear to interface very well, becoming a URL variable instead I have asked on the Coppermine Gallery forum, but have been met by a message that my post (request for information) does not meet their requirements and so was removed?!? If this is not possible, then I welcome any other suggestions or recommendations Equally, if anyone is currently using anything similar I would be interested and the information would be gratefully received As for the billing side, this would be performed by WHMCS with the websites created in WHM This has been tested and works correctly and as intended (creating the username.website.name)
