February 26, 200818 yr Advertise. Thankfully advertising doesn't have to cost money, at least not online. Get your site into some major directories, make sure it's in the search engines (and maybe even SEOed), get some backlinks from other sites (and learn the most beneficial ways to link to yourself - with keywords and anchor tags), post in blogs and forums (with your link in the signature), use social bookmarking sites like Digg... and so much more. Great creative with it because the older ideas are less effective and more watered down.
March 16, 200818 yr Join twitter and use twitterfeed to post your forum threads to your twitter account via RSS. You are bound to find somebody that will be interested in them. Once you have built your little twitter network, go for stumble upon and from there move on to other Social Media websites. Once you have built your networks, you will be able to attract thousands of users per day just by posting a single message. But this needs hard work and you have to post interesting stuff so others will trust you. If you want me to join your network, come and follow me at http://twitter.com/spyros . Cheers!
March 26, 200818 yr might not help for your site but sometimes making a myspace helps get your name out there. I did that for a couple of my sites lets people that friend request you know of any updates or changes too.
May 8, 200818 yr Build more backlinks that would help target your desired audience. Be choosy in building these backlinks as they will also help in your SEO in the long run - its like hitting two birds with one stone in doing so.

You don't want to sign up to a million directories or just go around promoting your site in places that bare no relevance to what your site is about. So remember with back links it s quality over quantity as a few well placed back links can do a lot more for you than 100 randomly placed none relevant ones
May 15, 200818 yr social bookmarking sites like digg, stumble upon and squidoo helps in traffic. you can also use yahoo answers, although it's a nofollow, it helps in gaining traffic. good luck!
