It's a pity that WIN XP will not support it as XP will still be used by many users.

 

I will probably download the beta as I did for IE8. I found that IE8 beta had a lot of problems that were ironed out in the final release so perhaps IE9 will be the same.

I was really excited about the new features in this browser and I'd like to try out the beta copy but I don't have windows vista or windows 7. I've only got windows XP running in a virtual machine for website testing. Seems a bit excessive to have to buy a new copy of windows, especially seeing as most of my clients still use IE6! I guess I'll need to buy it eventually though :/

Two days away - sh*t I shall have to upgrade to Win7 I suppose

I am so tempted to download the beta, but am holding back just in case there are too many bugs. Needing different working browsers on my machine to carry out basic tests on new sites, not sure I want to risk it just yet.

 

Has anyone else downloaded it, have you had any issues?

why are people excited for this... Its IE lol... They are only taking 30% of HTML5 & CSS3 new features and only 40% W3c compliant.

so what's not compliant about it and what 70% of HTML5/CSS3 features are missing? Do other browsers have 100% support of these features?

Just downloaded it and here are the 2 most interesting things that caught my eye.

 

 

Developer tools are ace, although the ruler is a bit ganky.

 

 

The gorillaz preview video is a must, sounds a bit like Tim Westwood doing the voice over. It did seems to break my contact form though, which works fine in IE8 and below.

 

Typically MS break a few conventions, when saving passwords the prompt is to the bottom of the screen. Almost never seen it.

 

 

They have clearly tried to copy Google Chrome by stripping out all the dross and using icons.

 

 

It's dark and glossy.

 

 

Tabs open faster.

 

This textarea is getting weird line heights at each carriage return.

 

 

Yeh it's pretty much a Chrome rip. Not even close in niceness though.
