Anyone know of any credible directory submission sites/tools?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone!

I'm looking to expand on incoming links for a web site. Now I know that submissions to directories is not as effective as it once was and I realise that there are a lot of link/directory approaches out there that are quite dodgy. However, I would expect directory submissions to carry at least some weight in terms of SEO.

Does anyone know of any web sites or tools that will enable me to a submit a web site to a large collection of directories that I can be assured are reliable/credible?

Stay away from automated directory submission tools, they'll do you more harm than good.

Get listed on the BOTW and the Yahoo directory if you have the cash, and only go for directories which are human edited and approved. Any 'auto approved' directories won't do much for SEO, and they are even worse for you if they charge a fee.

If you are looking to expand offpage links (which is good) start writing some short articles to publish to Ezine Articles and Go Articles, although the links are 'nofollow' they have lots of weight in Google, so pick your titles and get 250-300 words down.

Hope that helps!

Are you listed in DMOZ?

I always submit my web sites to DMOZ but many just don't seem to get listed, even after 6 months! Not sure what I'm doing wrong there.

Thanks, I'll take your advice on board and look into Ezine Articles and Go Articles.

Same here, the odd one gets listed but I don't see any rhyme nor reason to it. Seems to totally at the discretion of the individual moderator.
