If you're like me and don't handle choices well (I can spend forever, debating back and forth) you may find this link from About.com useful. Since I couldn't afford to buy every single Web Design software program that caught my eye, I had to pick and choose. Which Web Design Software Is Right For Me? The program ended out suggesting several, however, Macromedia Studio and Adobe Creative Suite Premium were the only ones that do everything I need it to. I need to be able to do basically everything from: WSIWYG: (What you see is what you get) CSS Editing For Professionals Graphics Editing International Character Sets Server Scripting Database Connectivity XML Support HTML validator Using this questionnaire was much easier than trying to remember what each different software's capabilities were. Once you finish the questionnaire, your results are laid out in an easily viewable chart. FYI: I've used Adobe products before and they aren't my favorite, so I went with Macromedia Studio and I love it. It's really a matter of preference though.

That is very helpful! I already have Dreamweaver so it might be some time before I make a decision to switch. I am used to Dreamweaver and have had very few problems with it. But if I changed software, I would probably get Macromedia Studio.

I don't know but to start out with, I have used the free testers out on the internet and then got a copy of the coffee cup html editor and have learned a great deal using that. I would however, love to know how to create a great questionnaire like that one, without all the ads ofcourse. I do love about dot com, they are so full of a variety of information. I cannot phathem how big their data base is. Thanks for the info!
December 18, 200619 yr Oh, I agree, I love using notepad. My situation though was that I wanted to see what I was doing and how it looked as I was building. So I used the coffeecup to let me "preview".
December 18, 200619 yr Yeah, I usually have the webpage open and save and refresh. Most WYSIWUG editors restrict certain coding, editors just annoy me but it's whatever floats your boat.
March 14, 200719 yr The best program I ever got my hands on was Topstyle for CSS coding. Is an old version now, which I got free on .net mag years ago and I now wouldn't part with today!! I should really upgrade, but my thought is - it does the job, so why 'fix' it?

I got tired of windows so installed linux on my computer. It's pretty cool because when I boot my computer, I can choose whether to go to windows or linux. It also looks like I'm the only person that uses netbeans for web development. Netbeans was originally java based, but recently they just improved their web editors. It support every language I know (html, css, javascript, php, java, c++). That's a pretty cool questionare. I'm going to tell several people to take it.

Having read your post, i've downloaded netbeans and OMG it's cool, i currently use expression web 2.0, notepad, Fireworks and Photoshop but looks like I 'll be using NetBeans from now on!!! January 6, 201016 yr For me I just use Wordpress, Joomla and Fireworks. Also photoshop for adjusting images and InDesign for Print. Gave up on Dreamweaver as the CMS software is better once you can hand code
