So you put "Search Engine Optimisation" on your website as a sercive you provide without actually knowing what it means.

All of the above plus sort your headers out H1 is important for seo and you have 40 html errors on home page.

Just had a read through that SEO book link above. The guy obviously has a pet hate of poor SEO advice, especially when that advice includes validating code for SEO. He's got a point though, valid code is unimportant. As long as the site displays correctly across browsers that’s all you need to worry about.

 

The main thing to think about is that the most relevant html is closest to the top of the page and contains plenty of keywords (but not spam).

 

A meta description for each page doesn't really improve SEO but rather gives people a better description of the page in search results. A sitemap probably won't help you that much since it's not a deep site. They're better used for helping search robots traverse larger sites spanning hundreds of pages. Still do one to cover yourself just don't waste too much time on it.

 

The longer a site has been around tends to help it as well. As does plenty of quality back links, which is something that can really help out. Make up a few videos or slideshows showcasing your portfolio work and post them on youtube. Stick you web address in the description and drop in a few keywords (wrexham web design, etc) but not too much.

 

You could also have 'Wrexham web design' in your header next to the Fier Design logo. There's a lot more to SEO than just creating a page and having it indexed.

 

The avg cpc on 'Wrexham web design' is £3.10 on a monthly local volume of around 210. Quite pricey but if half click through and only 10% of those give you work then that’s still 10 new clients for around £300. Or even 5 will cover your costs and build client lists that could return for more or recommend you to someone.

 

Just checked your domain, it's saying you registered in November. If that’s the case then you have to give it time for all the SEO type stuff to come in to alignment.

There are lots of factors for good SEO. However there are 3 major factors that are far more important.

 

1. Good title tags

The first point a search engine looks

 

2. Content

I have a friend who does not really know anything about SEO or much about web design. He is an editor who has written over 1000 posts and gets over 22,000 unique visitors per month as a result.

Therefore it is in your interest to apply SEO techniques to all your pages.

 

3. Links

People linking to your site, however the best way for this to happen is to focus on no.2!

What you need to know is this:

 

Onpage factors count for 15% of the factors google takes into account to rank a site.

 

Link popularity and anchor text count for 42% of the ranking factors.

So why you worrying about onpage so much :-)

Yes but why do you focus just on link building? SEO is a whole mix of things, on-site, off-site, real people's views .... etc etc. If link building is the only priority in your mind then why is it the website you recommend for link building is not cached by Google. Surely if link building is the only important thing to consider then I would expect a website that promotes link building to perform well in searches but I could not get it to appear for general terms.

create sitemap.xml for Google webmaster.

create robot.txt file.

these are the basic needs
