  1. Hey guys, (Not using this thread to directly recruit etc.) but one of my clients has a project I manage, it's a Wordpress site with an IPBoard forum. I've been struggling to find a good, realiable developer who can work on things. I have a guy from Egypt who did an OK job but was basic. I've now worked with an Indian team (couldn't find a UK dev, sadly) who have done an OK job, but their work time and methods are just poor - delays, no response and missing deadlines. Just putting the feelers out really. Anyone know someone who may be able to do this sort of stuff, or know where I could look? I've tried Freelance boards and just get generic copy paste repsonses from other Indian firms. I don't want someone who will just say they do "everything" - just someone reliable I can pick up the phone, call or skype and not let clients down. Cheers, Chris
  2. Hey guys, I seem to be stuck on this issue where my parallax background bugs in Chrome, has anyone else come across this? Live Link: http://bit.ly/1BZQtx9 (See background to testimonials at the bottom)? Any advice much appreciated. Thanks! Chris
  3. I wish I could use Stripe! They don't offer anything for partners etc. Hopefully they will bring one out soon. They do have connect but it would mean me marking up their 2.7% which isn't ideal. I may ask GoCardless. I use the for all my personal recurring payments and they are brilliant. Not sure if they offer anything affiliate/partner wise but I could ask
  4. Hey guys, I'm looking for a simple payment system I can use for maybe 10 clients. Enter card details and they can accept or deny payments - simple. All I want is something where it's say 2.5% and I get a % - say 0.5%? I have spoken to a few providers but so many catches, you need this, that, then this and that then this again?? Monthly costs after monthly costs. I'm trying to convince clients to go to this from something that isn't PCI compliant so it's a bit step they have to take, but they won't pay a lot. My trouble is I could just refer them to Stripe or Paypal - which seem far far simpler, but I won't make anything then and would like to retain some income. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  5. Thanks that's brilliant! That would have took me ages to spot, sometimes a fresh pair of eyes makes so much difference!
  6. Hey guys, Wonder if anyone can see the simple fix for this, I've been scratching my head for a while! I've been working on a bi-lingual website here: http://livetaekwondo.co.uk/ (See the Our Classes dropdown works) Welsh Version: http://livetaekwondo.co.uk/cymraeg/ (Dropdown suddenly stops working). Can anyone see the simple solution for this? I'm sure it's something easy I'm missing! Thanks, Chris
  7. Hey guys, So I've been freelancing for coming up 7 years, without Accounting Software (I know, I know). Which has worked perfectly fine up till now, haven't had a problem with clients not paying etc. I'm now coming up to the stage where I'm getting more clients, and need to keep track of them without it all playing on my mind/spending time constantly tracking them. All I want from it is: 1. To Alert me to send recurring invoices (maybe send them automatically). 2. Let me know when Invoices need sending. 3. Open Invoices, Mark as "Paid" when payment comes through (I can do this manually) Seems fairly simple? I don't want any of the extra stuff really, not VAT Registered etc. Be great to know what you guys use and your experience. Some seem quite pricey! And don't seem to have the recurring functionality which is what I mostly need with some good notifications. (I use a mac). Thanks, Chris
  8. Thanks Lyndsey that worked great!
  9. Hi guys, Having trouble getting phone number links to colour in browser, a is set up to have a colour as you can see here, http://goo.gl/7XjZ3g But the phone number links won't change colour for me. I'm presuming this is because each browser handles phone numbers differently? Does anyone have a way around this so that I can colour them? Many Thanks, Chris
  10. Thanks for the reply. I'm going to look more in to this!
  11. Hey guys, So I'm looking at setting up a booking system that will be used on clients websites, I want to keep all the data central to make my own sites using the info down the line (not important). But they key is it'll be for say Holiday Bookings, so I'll charge say 10%. Problem being what I think I'll have to do is logically take the payment, then release to them in 7 day periods. Does anyone have experience with this? My initial thoughts were to bolt it in to something like their own Worldpay, then invoice or debit them the fees. But then I have to go through all through the process of setting up a merchant account with them and them having extra fees. Thoughts much appreciated! Thanks, Crispy

  17. Thanks guys & thanks Lyndsey that worked fantastic. Your a star! Is there any way to stop the "gap" in the fade? http://hireboats2go.co.uk/phppcdemo/ so it was just one fade in to next? Sorry to pester
  18. Hey guys, Can anyone tell me why this simple slideshow keeps jumping? I'm sure it's something obvious that I'm missing. Thought it was the slideshow but tried 3 different ones and used the slider elsewhere where it's working. It seems almost as if the first slide is taking too long to fade out? I've changed the speed settings numerous times though. Help much appreciated Cheers, Chris
  19. Hey guys, I'm building more and more sites in Wordpress now, so really need to get my head round the whole back up system. There seems a ton of services around to do it free and paid (eek). Aren't I right in thinking: - Copy all files from root - Download a copy of the database Isn't that's all that required in it's most basic form? Then I could have a plug in either e-mail me the latest posts/save when changed or upload a back up to dropbox? (Does anyone recommend a plugin for this)? Been looking at hosting backup options but will end up costing me an extra £20 a month on hosting at least which I'd rather avoid. Thanks! Chris
